Winston ‘Salsa’ Skeete accused of assaulting female
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and his attorney at law was Stephen R. Daniels.
According to the complaint before the court, on June 20, 2015 at Baughers Bay Tortola, at around 4.30 PM, the Virtual Complainant was at the Beach Club Terrace when the accused came to discuss a matter about a lease.
An argument ensued and the Virtual Complainant was allegedly “up in the defendant’s face” when he pushed her which caused her to fall. The defendant allegedly kicked her in the back and chest while she was on the ground.
Skeete was reportedly restrained by persons who were present and a report was made to the Road Town Police Station.
After tendering a statement to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), the Virtual Complainant was taken to Peebles Hospital where she received medical attention and it was confirmed that she had a ruptured right ear and chest trauma as a result of the alleged assault.
That same night the accused was arrested and an interview conducted.
Daniels told the court that there is video surveillance footage of the alleged incident and this he said would show that his client was not the aggressor.
“The video footage will speak for itself. It will show that Mr Skeete was not the aggressor in this matter,” said Daniels.
Bail was set at $40,000 and the defendant was ordered to have no contact with the Virtual Complainant or any other witness.
The case continues on February 29, 2016.
