ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The BVICA Corporate Cricket Tournament continues this evening, Thursday October 13, 2016 with a top of the table clash in Pool B with BCQS /Antarctica playing Harneys and in Pool A the strong Omega Caribbean team taking on title holders Team Delta Petroleum.

Last week, the RVIPF got their season up and running with a comfortable victory over Maples /KPMG.

Lovat Carnelley and Debbie Bell opened the batting for Maples/KPMG and put on a useful partnership of 13 runs from 16 deliveries before Debbie Bell was bowled by Elcius Phillip. She was replaced by the big hitting Johannes Naude in an effort to accelerate the run rate.

The decision worked as both Lovat and Johannes put on a partnership of 43 runs from 28 deliveries before Johannes Naude was caught by Richard Francis off the bowling of Hendrickson Williams. Stephen Langford came in next with the score on 56 for 2 and declared his intention by getting off the mark with consecutive boundaries, a six and a four.

Unfortunately, he could not maintain that momentum and Maples/KPMG ended with a good total of 81 for 5.

Kenneth Arthur and Elcius Phillip opened the batting for Team RVIPF. Stephen Langford opened the bowling for Maples/KPMG and following a few wayward deliveries caught opener Kenneth Arthur off his own bowling.

Raymond Charles, however, saw Team RVIPF home in 8.5 overs.

The win gets Team RVIPF off the bottom of the table into 3rd position behind Harneys and BCQS/Antarctica.

Team Groundworks see off Team RTW

The evening’s second game saw Team Groundworks kicking off their campaign against Team RTW who were looking for a win to get off the mark in the tournament.

Team RTW won the toss and decided to put Team Groundworks into bat which proved to work against them as Mohamed Hasan and Arron Baker opened with a flurry of fours and sixes and when Mohamed Hasan was run out in the second over by Austin McDowell, the score had already reached 39.

Roshan Hushman came in with the score on 71 for 3 and ensured his team reached the highest total of the league, so far, as the innings closed on 125 from the allotted ten overs.

RTW opening batsmen Philbert Anthony and K. Persaud came out looking to get the score moving straight away, but both players got out immediately going for big shots and with the score 0-2, Joel Williams and Austin McDowall had no choice but to steady the ship.

They combined to put on 19 runs from 17 balls before was Austin bowled by LaFleur and then the rest of the batting collapsed as RTW finished on 47 all out.
