‘Will legislative changes include gay marriage?’ – Doug Wheatley

The hot button topic of gay marriage came up again this time on a special radio show hosted by Doug Wheatley and Natalio D. Wheatley aka Sowande Uhuru last evening November 12, 2014 on ZBVI 780 AM to discuss aspects of the Throne’s speech. Photo: Internet source
“Some time ago the matter of gay marriages was raised and I remember someone had called in on National Democratic Party (NDP) Radio concerning their views on gay marriage and the matter was not really addressed,” Doug Wheatley said. “But I am wondering now that they are going to be bringing a Marriage Act up to the House [of Assembly], whether or not in their discussions the matter of gay marriages will be part of what is discussed and what might we expect from it,” he said. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The hot button topic of gay marriage came up again this time on a special radio show hosted by Doug Wheatley and Natalio D. Wheatley aka Sowande Uhuru last evening November 12, 2014 on ZBVI 780 AM to discuss aspects of the Throne’s speech.

This speech was delivered by His Excellency Governor John S. Duncan OBE during the First Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Second House of Assembly on Monday November 10, 2014.

“In giving the legislative agenda, [the Governor] talked about the Marriage Act and that it will be updated to improve the overall efficiency in the registration, celebration of marriages in the Territory in particular the right given to the Registrar to conduct marriages on board a ship in the territorial waters of the Virgin Islands,” said Doug Wheatley.

“Some time ago the matter of gay marriages was raised and I remember someone had called in on National Democratic Party (NDP) Radio concerning their views on gay marriage and the matter was not really addressed,” he said.

“But I am wondering now that they are going to be bringing a Marriage Act up to the House [of Assembly], whether or not in their discussions the matter of gay marriages will be part of what is discussed and what might we expect from it,” said Wheatley.

Wheatley said that he believes the Government needs to take a position on it or at least canvass the views of the population here concerning matters of gay marriage.

“We read and see what is happening in other countries and some of that will impact the BVI in due course so we need to have a discussion on it,” said Wheatley.

Can someone address this for me. Most children are born sexually oriented according to nature. When a child with natural sexual orientation is exposed to "same sex" conduct then that child can be affected/confused in their view of sexuality and may even be "influenced" go the "other way". It is WRONG to do that to a child. Would you want two gay teachers displaying affection in front of small kids in a class room. I respect the right of adult to make their own decisions keeping in mind that I do not have to like the decision. Little children make decisions based on adult conduct, what they see us do. What about those little children whose education/explanation/communication et all will be the behavior that they see from two consenting adults?

We seem to forget history a lot. Sodom and Gomorrah was BURNT to the GROUND for this same reason. Genesis 19:24 - "It rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of the heavens." When it comes to ANY sexual activity, same sex ANYTHING is an abomination! I don't care about what the rest of the world is doing or did!

The radio talk shows do more to undermine the joy and spirit of the the British Virgin Islands than all the criminals combined.
