Who qualifies to be the next premier of the BVI?

Even though governments have established their own identity and have taken their own path to what they perceived to be the road to making the BVI great again, it is very clear that BVI governments are yet to find the right political strategy.

The right political strategy will provide the right socio-economic tools to elevate this pristine territory to the place where it can merge itself into the global picture, and be respected as the little territory standing resolutely on its own to establish its own path to political and economic stability and sustainability.

From what we have seen over recent years, is it reasonable to conclude that the territory has perhaps, been deliberately dragged deep into the political forest, so much so that we are now having serious trouble finding our way back home?

With night on the horizon, we all must face our gruesome reality.

Whether or not one is willing to take responsibility for the hilarious image we have created for this wonderful territory, I find it brutally alarming that in the face of excessive warnings and endless cautions, we continued to spiral off course.

Now that we have found ourselves in this quagmire, can someone give me a practical reason for all this political excitement?

No official plan

To date, no official plan has been presented by any one political party for economic, social, or political reform.

Yet, all four political parties are blasting their horns for votes. If politicians are still at liberty to do whatever they want, whenever they want, with whatever they want, without an effective system of accountability and transparency in place, what then is the real reason for the 2019 elections?

Do you honestly think anything will ever change if such systems of accountability and transparency are not in place?  If the modus operandi of BVI politics is built on this premise, is it that we are prepared for England to establish a military base in the territory, kick politicians out of the house, and install white faces to rule over this black nation because of our own carelessness?

Do we seriously think anyone will even care for this territory or even respect us if we cannot get it together with some urgency before the clock strikes midnight?

I ask your permission to speak the raw, practical truth:  Should we ever miss the opportunity to fix it this time, we will all wake up one morning staring down the barrel of British cannons.  Mark my words!

The general position on the ground:

Any political representative known to be part of a system which has allegedly abandoned the path to the legitimate development of the BVI, diverting the course into the wilderness where we presently find ourselves, does not qualify to lead our people into the twenty-first century.

If this is the general position, is there a man among us who is not simply preferred because of popularity or influence, but is capable of leading the territory out of the wilderness by virtue of experience, expertise, and competence to chart the most practical path to restoration in a moral, calculated manner?

Is there someone among us who is immune to influence, and is apt to stick to the path, regardless?

Is there a man who is ready to protect the interest of ALL PEOPLE within the territory?

Is there one among us who qualifies?

No plan means no progress

A political party without a plan will take us nowhere!

Therefore, if any person or group qualifies as the best option to restore this territory at this point in our history, the person or group must have a plan!  Let me hasten to state that while a plan is of paramount importance, we need a man with a backbone to stand as the Premier of the British Virgin Islands, who is prepared at all cost to stick to every detail of his plan to ensure its execution.

A man who has the best interest of all people at heart, and is ready to sit with them to learn the reality of their current circumstances in order to develop the appropriate strategies based on the people’s experiences.

In addition, there must be an effective system of accountability and transparency in place to empower all persons within the territory to hold politicians accountable at every stage of development.

Sounds like a scary option?  Any party brave enough to implement such measures to hold themselves accountable is ready to govern the BVI, and this is the party we all should empower to lead this territory into the twenty-first century!

No plan, no system of accountability and transparency, no votes!

These are the critical concerns we must address if politicians in the Virgin Islands are to be seen and revered as honourable, and these strategies must be implemented to restore credibility to BVI politics.

If these matters are avoided or treated as unimportant, be warned that we will end up in a far worst situation than we are presently experiencing. Mark my words!

Thanks for reading.

More next week.

Sound like you're very much describing Hon. Fahie for he to me is the best option to recover us from the mess this NDP government has us in. I wouldn't even blame the storms for they only opened the eyes of the blinded.

Hon Fahie has to look deep within the body of the VIP and find the golden child the big idea that the BVI need to have. Mark my words.

Great article. WE, the Voters need lots of answers. Four months away and not one plan. What does that say to us? Same ole, same ole bunch of recycled goods. NDP in today, VIP in tomorrow. Nothing changes. People of the BVI wake up, time is running out. Open your eyes and think, think, think wisely. Look at the big picture. What kind of BVI do you envision for the next generations years from now? Do you think your great grands would be able to identify where they are at? DO NOT be selfish and thinking about today and who is here now. Look deep into the future and plan ahead by voting for people with integrity. Those who truly care about ALL not SOME. Scuffle the deck. Leave out the Jokers.
