'Who feels it knows!' Some Buju fans feel cheated
Super disappointed
Our news site, over the last two days, has received several calls from persons expressing dissatisfaction with their experiences over the past weekend. Speaking with Ronald Mickely Jr, who said he travelled from Miami Florida to the Virgin Islands with a group of eighteen friends and family members, came with all intentions of absorbing every opportunity of seeing Buju Banton and other artistes, especially young Koffee.
“To tell you the least we were super disappointed, very disappointed, and it’s not us alone, many others will tell you they feel the same as us.”
Mickely said the first disappointment was felt by his two teenaged children who took a taxi to the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport at Beef Island but were never given an opportunity to see their “favourite singer.”
“Those youths bet me they were going to see him before us and they paid their own monies, took a taxi from West End where we were staying and headed to the airport, only to be disappointed when they learnt that Buju was not walking through the doors but was whisked away.”
“They took two or three vehicles to the plane that brought him in and drove away. My kids said that they only knew that he had left the airport after seeing persons surrounding a reporter to look at a short video she had managed to get,” said the obviously upset fan.
No show
But that was just the start of a streak of disappointments for the Mickely family, who said they were early at three other venues where they alleged it was announced Buju Banton would make an appearance and again he was a no-show.
“We were at the [Riteway] Supermarket, some of my friends were at the CCT store, both locations, we were told he was appearing and nothing. I don’t know about at the CCT store but the supermarket was all decked out and waiting so we don’t know what happened.”
This news site reached out to the Marketing Manager of Roadtown Wholesale Trading Limited, Dawn J. Callwood, who said the supermarket had “never advertised” that Buju Banton would make an appearance there.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Marketing Manager of CCT Global Communications, Recaldo E. Richardson aka ‘Ricky’, were unsuccessful.
Mr Mickely also claimed he didn’t see the star artiste at the meet and greet in Cane Garden Bay. “After so much disappointments we waited for a couple of hours at the Cane Garden Bay, Quito’s Place, and he didn’t show up so we left. I am not sure if he did make an appearance after we left.”
Crowd was too much
The man still had much to complain about as, according to him, when the family showed up at the VIP section for which they had all purchased that class of ticket, the area was crammed and hot.
“This experience was a hot mess…and we got shafted because we didn’t get what we paid for,” Mr Mickely said.
The man’s wife, who was equally disgruntled, said she and her husband ended up leaving the show without seeing Buju Banton perform.
“The organisers kept insisting that the show was ending at midnight so we were in the ground from time it was open expecting the early start and midnight finish. Lord, they draw out the show, [but] my girl Koffee delivered and I really enjoyed two locals, Shine-I and Sista Joyce, but midnight came without Buju so we thought like he was not going to show up there too. But having VIP tickets, no seat, can’t breathe in the thick crowd I told my husband let’s go and leave the younger ones, our children, and the others. So we came and left and yet to see Buju in the BVI.”
The couple expressed that they were originally slated to leave the VI on Thursday June 20, 2019 but cut short their time and left on Sunday June 16, 2019, “Because we even heard he was not going to show up at the beach party at Norman Island.”
It is unclear whether Buju Banton was scheduled to make an appearance at Norman Island.
Organisers to blame
Nevertheless, the upset family is blaming the organisers for their misfortunes. “The BVI is a beautiful place but you guys made it look ugly with the way your organisers handled this show,” said the distraught woman.
Several others have expressed like sentiments.
The Long Walk to Freedom Concert was promoted by KT Productions in collaboration with Pumpstation Productions, Westline Entertainment and Xclusive Levels.
Efforts to contact the main organiser of the VI leg of the tour, Mr Kenneth Thompson aka ‘Kenny’ of KT Productions, were futile up to time of publication.

Good for them r@$$. If a famous preacher of the Gospel was coming, you will never have that kind of promotion and not even quarter of that crowd
Shut your craw , buju making money long time you bright and out of order. He will come back if he’s being paid to come back so go and sit down. Maybe buju didn’t know he was suppose to meet and greet , did the promoters tell him anything about that. Please check with KT Productions before you start wobble you big mouth. And then again do you think buju care if him not coming back. Look up his line up for the rest of the year. Cast ayp @$#
Why try?
Lets move on.
