WEST END, Tortola, VI – “Kudos to the now 21 year old but still going strong West End Community Centre Committee for pulling off another successful Back to School Fair in the First District,” said Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1), as he reflected on the activity of Saturday August 20, 2016.

While the Community Centre’s Committee is some 21 years old, this year marks its fourth Back to School initiative which, according to several parents and Hon Fahie, “Just keeps getting better every year.”

Close to one hundred children were furnished with well needed school supplies, putting an ease on the pockets of a number of parents.

“I for one am very thankful for the stuff we got this year. We got string bags this time but that’s no big deal because the back packs my kids got last year are very strong and in very good condition that they will be using them again. So I just want to, on behalf of all the parents and children, thank Mr Benjamin and his team. We do appreciate the blessings,” said one parent who asked not to be named.

Surprised guests!

In like manner, as did Hon Fahie, the parent complimented the committee for bringing the featured guests, cast members from Tyler Perry's House of Payne, Cassandra "Cassi" Davis and Larramine "Doc" Shaw.

“Who don’t know those two from House of Payne don’t watch TV. But they always have that message that all things are possible if you only just believe. And that was part of their overall message here,” said the parent.

“The kids were challenged to keep working to get good grades, to cherish these Virgin Islands because it’s like paradise and they need to keep their education at peak level,” the parent added.

Hon Fahie, on the other hand, said “Awesome words of advice from the two. Once again this proves that together we will always achieve more. As a member of the committee I congratulate all members and supporters, especially President Charles Benjamin.”

The back-to-school exercise this year was dubbed the largest of the previous three held in past years and, according to the organisers they can only see it getting bigger and better as it continues to grow in popularity and remains one of the signature events in the West End community.

The committee has as its President Mr Charlie Benjamin and Vice President Mr Greg Romney. Several other prominent members of society are also active members, including Hon Fahie and At-Large Representative and Junior Minister of Government Honourable Archibald C. Christian.

Now, WTF, are you not being too nosey, too metay, too melee-ish? You gave them any money to put off the event? You bought a back-pack? Man, shut up your confusion-making mouth self. What they paid Cassandra Davis is none of your business. It was not your money and mind your own business. She came, gave her message, the children and parents were happy; all were happy except you. Some people too fast. What it would do for you knowing how much she was paid? Eh? Let the positive roll on for the West End Community Organizers.
