'We can't take four more years of NDP' – Donald E. de Castro
He was speaking last night May 13, 2015 on a special talk show on ZBVI 780 AM dealing with the upcoming general elections in the territory.
de Castro said the calling of a snap election is unacceptable and that it is being disrespectful to the people. “And we need to teach them a lesson in respect. We can’t take four more years of them,” he said.
“This election is serious, this country is going ahead in the wrong direction,” he said. He urged persons to be honest with themselves and vote for the people who they think can change the direction of the territory and put it back on track.
Not in favour of Hon Fraser as premier
According to the veteran political commentator, four more years of the NDP will be disastrous for this territory and its people, however, he is not so sure Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) is the right choice for the next premier of the Virgin Islands.
He said the party needs to get its act together and form a coalition and get somebody other than Hon Fraser to be premier.
“That is the only way that we can get rid of the NDP. If we going there with thoughts of getting Fraser forget it,” he said.
de Castro further said the people of the territory know better and want better and that there are coalition governments all over the world.
“It is a dilemma. We can’t afford the NDP for another four years and we can’t afford Fraser for four years. But it can be solved. The people that running on a VIP ticket need to accept this fact because they know that the independent candidate that we are going to vote for has to bear in mind that they have to work with someone to form a government,” he said.

Also, one must be consistent in their criticism, you can't accuse the government of not doing anything, being the most corrupt etc yet complain when they call an election to let the people decide if they should continue governing. One would think if a government is unpopular and bad, an election, expected or not, would be a welcome event. Think people.
How can you claim to have love for the country, want to see progress but cant work together? Instead of slinging each other through the mud on "who did this and who did that" Say let unite for the betterment of the people who are electing us and who pay our salaries.
Just like how they victimize civil servants and business bpeople who dont agree with them.
