WICKHAM’S CAY II, Tortola, VI – It is not a matter of ‘who it hurt it hurt’ but rather adjusting to changes for the betterment of the masses of entertainers and residents of the Virgin Islands (VI) that GRATE BVI Music Alliance is moving full pace ahead with the New Year’s Eve activities.

Around this time there are usually a number of other groups, promoters and organizations that stage activities of an entertainment nature with the intention of making the dollar, drawing the masses to their venue and ultimately giving persons a welcoming break into the New Year.

“I do believe, like I said before, people still have the opportunity of doing what they are accustomed to doing…but change is good… we try to set a pace coming into 2015 and like the Messenger said there is no other place to be because the upliftment that you are going to get at this venue (Multi Purpose Sports Complex December 31, 2014) is where you want be…,” said President of the GRATE BVI Music Alliance Mr Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman.

Freeman also said that in addition to other traditional events that take place around this time, everyone is going to get their fair share, “But I am encouraging persons to come to this event.”

He further said that the local organization is not just about the platform event but they are about satisfying the need of unifying entertainers for the growth in the music industry in the VI. “We see the need to … try to set everybody along the right path and build an industry where it could be something great for everybody and I wouldn’t say the energy is great only in the Alliance but the energy is great in the whole BVI,” add Mr Freeman.

He responded to the much touted notion propelled by many that for a good show with an international artiste such as Luciano to make the hit, an international band is necessary. He said that the members of the GRATE BVI Music Alliance dismiss that notion as they said that they have proven it not to be so and will be backing up Luciano and the other entertainers of the night.

Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart of the Alliance said that while they are confident in the ability of the local band to perform at a high level the other thing of key note is that they are keeping the money in the Territory.

A show like this can and does happen at any time of the year. A show like Foxy's or Trellis Bay happens only once a year. Prepare to lose money as who in their right mind is going to go to the Sports Complex for New Year? What caliber of people are you going to have there?

Furthermore why are holding reggae shows in the sports complex? It was built for sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you're saying that we should not hold Pageants, Comedy Shows or High School Graduations there either???? What's our alternative, the run down Cultural Center? If you ever lived in any other part of the world (which you probably haven't) you would see that Sports Arenas are often used for other events such as concerts. Using it just for sports when there is hardly any sports being played in it would be just silly.

MADISON Square Garden was built for basket Ball. With todays technology you can have a show anyplace. Before Mahoney did the show on the beach in Cane Garden Bay you would say the beach was made for swimming.

Respect to BVI G.M.A for their step forward. Dont mind the talk...just do what you have to do, it's the 1st time don't be scared to prove them wrong and don't be shy to fail, when you do hope not but if you do, know that you failed trying.

Luciano is a wonderful artist and great way to start 2015.

    Gumption said it.
