ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Nearly three weeks after workers embarked on repairs to a ghut adjacent to the Commercial Court along Waterfront Drive in Road Town, work continues apace to have the project completed within the remaining days of the week.

Works are being done to have the area surrounding the ghut adjusted and ghut cover replaced but commuters remain inconvenienced for the while.

Repairs were embarked upon after it was observed that the added layers of asphalt to the roadway over time had risen to a level that made it difficult for vehicles to traverse the area properly.

One worker associated with the project related that repairs are likely to be completed this week as the final bits of metal work were being done currently to the ghut cover.

The surrounding road had to be dug up and a new layer added to ensure that it was made level with the remainder of the roadway.

He also noted that the last bit of concrete for the construction was poured last evening.

Efforts to contact Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Mark H. Vanterpool or Director of the Public Works Department Mr Jeffrey M. Skelton for comment on the road project were unsuccessful up to post time.

that was fairly fast showing something can get done if put a mind to it. If access to main st was closed off, I hope people get a feel for a pedestrian-only street for the businesses and older architecture for tourists. I hope they try it.

Why did this take one month. This is a weekend job. Noe day to dig it up and another day to cast the concrete.
They finish it on the same level as the road, so any time there is a repaving of the road we are back to square one again.
