DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – The Warrias battled to a 17-point win over Real Tool when play continued on Saturday August 29, 2015 in the 3rd Annual Hon Julian Fraser/Save the Seed Basketball League, winning 81-64 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre court in Duff’s Bottom.

The Warrias opened the game with a nine-point unanswered run, including three pointers from Juan Hatchett, Joash Victor and Terrique Wattley, but Real Tool clawed their way back into the game to make it 12-7 heading into the last three minutes of the first quarter.

Tyrone Donovan scored on a fast break to make it 17-9 with under two minutes to go and the lead was back to nine points at the buzzer.

The teams traded points for the opening minutes of the second quarter and Real Tool then took advantage of some sloppy passing by the Warrias to further reduce the deficit, before they themselves started giving away possession which allowed the gap to become as high as 14 points before the half time break came at 35-27.

Real Tool seized some momentum to begin the third quarter, inspired by a Jevon Fahie long range three, as well as by Dwayne Jennings, and a couple more points from Fahie.

Costly mistakes for Real Tool

Down by just five points at 37-32, Real Tool let the Warrias off the hook by giving the ball away too often and Alston Leonard brought up the half century into the last five minutes of the quarter.

Real Tool did show some signs of brilliance in coming up with the best play of the game; a passing move involving Sherwin Fahie, Carlisle France and Jennings, which made it 51-40, but any resurgence was squashed quickly with Leonard going 2/2 from the free throw line and Deangelo Sampson splashing in from down town to make it 61-42 entering into the final quarter.

It soon became a 20-point game before Real Tool had their biggest scoring run of the game with six points to make it 64-48. However, Hatchett picked up a rebound from his own miss to score, Wattley made it a 21 point game, Hatchett added a three and a two to make it a 26-point game, Donovan added two more and that was all she wrote for Real Tool, despite a mini comeback as the Warrias took their feet off the pedal.

The final score was 81-64.

Juan Hatchett finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals while Wattley had 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

For Real Tool, Sherwin Fahie scored 16 points and Ahdan Doward picked up 9 rebounds.

For New Heights, William Penn top scored with 15 points and 7 rebounds, Dudley Richardson finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds and Terry Turnbull 11 points.

Z6ne 6 Ballers down Young Starz

Z6ne 6 Ballers then beat Young Starz 79-64, led by Zaniel Joseph and Deshawn Douglas, who both scored 18 points with 7 rebounds. Nathaniel Malone and Tyree Maduro both scored 10 points.

Young Starz’ Jachoy Walwyn contributed 24 of his team’s points, adding 8 rebounds while DeQuante Dabreo notched 9 points with 11 rebounds.

Run It Red defeat Avengers

Run It Red rounded out the action by beating the Avengers 101- 93, with Tavon Phillips scoring 36 points and pulling 21 rebounds with 10 steals. Chino Woods scored 32 points with 11 rebounds and 12 steals.
