Wakima Lettsome to face PI Jan. 19

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Wakima Lettsome, the alleged trigger man in the Crabbe Lot shooting last November will face a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) on January 19, 2012 in the Magistrate’s Court.

Lettsome, who is charged with grievous bodily harm and attempted murder, appeared in court this morning Wednesday January 11, 2012.

According to Crown Counsel Christilyn Benjamin, the Crown is awaiting the forensic report of the clothing that was sent overseas for testing. She foresees receiving the report in another four weeks and was requesting another reporting date.

However, Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens firmly stated that she would like to proceed with a PI, as soon as possible.

Court records reveal that Lettsome allegedly shot 27-year-old Johnathan Colaire around 10:30 p.m. on Friday November 18, 2011. Luckily, the injury to his abdomen was not life threatening.

Colaire, the virtual complainant (VC) was present in court today.

Lettsome is represented by Mary Lou-Creque, and remains on remand at the HM prison.
