ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Host of the Radio Talk Show 'Speak Out BVI' Doug Wheatley has suggested that the Territory starts teaching its children from an early age about its Governmental structure, its Cabinet, Legislature and the various political parties and their philosophies and ideologies.

He was speaking on Tuesday September 30, 2014 on his show aired on ZBVI 780 AM.

Wheatley said that he noticed that in other Overseas Territories they speak of these issues and teach them to young children.

“They also talk about the electoral laws, how you vote, what you do, and they have ballots that they show the students and so forth,” he said.

“And I thought it was a great idea. I know that we have done some of that in our schools as we approach the election cycle,” he pointed out.

“But I think that we should start it, not just waiting for that the election comes around. There should be some time dedicated to teaching our young people at a very young age about the structure of our Government so that they could understand it,” he said.

Wheatley said sometime back when he worked in the public service he would interview persons and ask them questions about the Territory’s Constitution and other related issues and he would find their answers to be inadequate.

WRONG! EDUCATION SHOULD START AT HOME. MAKE YOUR HOME-CONTRIBUTION AND STOP RENUNDERMINDING THE GOVERNMENT AND THE EDUCATION SYSTEM. HELP THE SCHOOL TO HELP YOUR CHILD BY MAKING A CONTRIBUTION TO YOU CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN AT HOME.

MAY GOD BLESS ALL PAST, PRENSENT AND FUTUE EDUCATORS. IN ADDITION, MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY HELP YOU TO 'UN-IGNORANT' YOURSELF.
