ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islander Dimari Thomas has found himself in a county jail in the United States for an alleged armed robbery carried out on a gas station on Thursday September 29, 2016.

According to reports on various online news sites in Alabama, police arrested two people in connection with the robbery at the Kangaroo gas station on Jordan Lane.

“It happened around 9:00 P.M. on Thursday.  Two men, 22-year-old Dimari Thomas and 24-year-old Kristopher Williams, are charged with robbery. Both men are being held in the Madison County Jail,” WHNT News 19 reported on September 30, 2016.

Police say the men wore masks and robbed the store at gunpoint before running away.

Witnesses, according to WHNT News 19, saw the two men get in a car in the area of Jack Coleman Drive. Police in the area stopped the car and recovered the money taken as well as the masks and guns used.

The father of Dimari Thomas, former police officer and basketball referee Mr Neil J. Thomas, when contacted said: “I can’t comment on that because I myself don’t know what is going on,” Mr Neil Thomas said, while admitting that he has been hearing reports his son was allegedly involved in a robbery in the United States.

my people god morning, this is a good example for those haters who are quick to blame down the island parents for their children wrong, crimes committed are not a respecter of race nationality or the colour of a man or woman skin ,it just like HIV, or aids non are immune, children of pastors ,police, judges, teacher and many others do it,so when next you haters respond to a blog and its not your relative or children caught up in crime, think because it may be your child next in a worst situation. Dont throw stones when you have glass windows, cause rain dont fall on one man or woman house top

Updeislun folks are the one whose worse nightmare is to hear the words ," deport him". Not too long ago in London,a ZJamaican actually sliced his throat after being picked up for deportation. Going home is a nightmare for done but still they are a nightmare for the country where they are guests.

Whenever anything happens a lot of you all jump on blogging negative, if l can't give encouraging words l stay away from blogging. There comes a time when each and everyone have some kind of relative find themselves in some kind of problem and all most of you can do is talk down the person, no one is perfect. Say what you all want, his mother tried her best to raise him right and if while he was away going to school he got caught up with the wrong company, is it his mom's fault? Come of the lady mahn!!!!

I just moved from Alabama a year ago because those rednecks do not play in that State. If it is true, man I feel sorry for them. Those people in Alabama, Louisiana, and Kentucky love their shot guns. When I was living in Alabama, and I see a police, I never give them eye contact. The police in the South is scary.

My Moma always tell me choose good company and good things will become of you.. Choose bad company and bad things will be come of you. That's the best advice I've ever gotten as a young boy..He and him alone responsible for his actions as a man and it's him and him alone will be in prison. It's him and he alone backside will get bus up ..

Down South is no place to get caught up with the law. I feel bad for them because the South apply their own justice. Redneck/Crackers to the bone.
Drove through Mississippi and Alabama on my way to Florida, those police stop me and my family in Mississippi, made us get out the car on the side of the road bought out the k-9 dog, search the car and found nothing. Did not even say sorry. I don't do the South.

I always feel much better when alleged thieves and other criminals are taken off the street for various reasons. Firstly, they will be brought to justice and made to answer for their crime or be found innocent and released. Secondly, a weapon has been taken off the streets. Lastly, they are alive and safe and sound in jail.

It may not be of comfort to the parents that their son has been accused of a serious crime, but it should be a huge comfort to them that he is alive. Yes, he may be found guilty and may have to serve several years in prison, but alive is far better than dead. Armed robbery is no joke and this incident could have had a very different ending. They should consider themselves lucky.

Being held accountable for any wrong doings (if caught) is something that all criminals KNOW is part and parcel of the lifestyle they have chosen. Too bad, so sad. If you play with fire, expect to be burned.

Wow! If there is any truth to this, it is a dam shame for the family. I'm sure that the amount of money that they got don't worth the effort. As previously said, he's lucky to be alive the way things are going with the shooting of black men in the States.

I can honestly say I don't understand this. How much money could they have stole for this to be worth it. Lucky if they got 4,000.00 between the two of them. So now what? How much legal balls will the family pay to help this child out? Can they help him if he is found in a car with the money?

How many years off his life? At min 10-15 years with hard criminals and skin heads trying to shank him and possible sexually abuse him. This is not Balo this is the real deal!

So they split $4,000.00 $2,000.00 each!!! It will cost more then that just to fly out of the BVI, stay in a hotel and rent a car. I have a son and it's my job to protect him and try to set an example. We work hard for what we want and I have no shame in working hard for what it is I want.

I hope some of the young people would consider firstly how it will effect them and the consequences of their actions!!! Then stop for a minute and think about your mother or father who may have worked hard to provide a better life for you. I remind my son that he would kill his grandmother if he ever did anything remotely close.

If nothing else I pray that you serve as an example for other who think getting rich quick is the solution to financial challenges. Live within your means.

I pray that God will look over this young man and his family; stays strong. Yes they are our children but their choices belong to them. It just pains us deeply when you have tried your best and things like this happen.

We all make bad decisions in life, don't judge the difference is you may have not gotten caught

Wishing this family who I know only the very best.

Yeah he is going to spend a few years in prison for armed robbery. He is going to wish he was back home in prison.
Yes, after he served his time, they are going to deport him out of the United States.

I don't know the young man nor his parents, but as a mother of a teenage son, I am careful to never rejoice over anybody's downfall - from here or not, because there go I but for the grace of God. I am experiencing where I am learning that no matter how hard you try as a parent, train that child up in the way he/she should go, teach them manners and respect and all of that, one day, they are going to follow their own paths, which might not always be what they were taught. Out here is a gangster world, and kids, especially or boys, of all races and cultures are faced with many demons which look like attractive traps to just take them out. I spend my time in prayer, not only praying for my own, but for all of our youth because in trying to seek knowledge and adventure, they all make mistakes. Be guided by Jah
