ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The spectacular views and luxury accommodations that the Virgin Islands has to offer will be highlighted in the Canadian television programme “Dream Villas of the Caribbean”.

The VI was selected amongst six Caribbean islands to be featured on this show. This French Canadian television show will be aired starting April 11, 2013 on Évasion television network, and will be shown every Thursday from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The scenic views and exquisite beauty of several of the VI’s luxury villas will be aired on May 30 and June 6, 2013. Dream Villas of the Caribbean will be aired for three consecutive years with the VI being showcased at least once each year.

“The goal of the show was to find the top six islands in the Caribbean with the best luxury villas. The show not only showcases beautiful luxury villas throughout the Caribbean but also includes scenic shots, beaches and historical sites, which encourages our viewers in Quebec to begin dreaming of their next vacation getaway,” said Sébastien Pepin, Dream Villas of the Caribbean Coordinator. “We really enjoyed filming in the BVI. We were able to find a variety of villas ranging from beachfront villas that offers crystal clear seas to hillside villas with breathtaking views. Virgin Gorda is very unique as it is naturally beautiful with huge boulders sprinkled strategically throughout the island creating an even more fascinating touch to the island’s allure.”

Other Caribbean countries featured in this television series include St. Maarten, St. Barths, Anguilla, Jamaica, and Turks and Caicos. The show will have 13 episodes with each episode being an hour long. Each island will be broadcasted in two episodes with the exception of Jamaica which will be shown in three episodes.

“The Film Commission acts as the marketing arm for film productions. We liaise with various producers and film executives to encourage them to bring their film productions to the BVI. An average production can easily generate $300,000 in direct revenue to the BVI for a mere two week production, so not only does it assist in promoting the BVI as a tourism destination, but there is also a direct economic benefit for the Territory,” said Rhodni Skelton, Film Commissioner of the BVI Tourist Board and Film Commission. “Canada is an untapped market for the BVI, which we are pushing towards, so Dream Villas of the Caribbean serves as a good introduction for the BVI into the Canadian market.”

Dream Villas of the Caribbean will be broadcasted on Évasion, which is a travelling and adventure television channel. It is a French show that is shown mainly to viewers in Quebec, Canada. The viewership is 1,925,000, with viewers between the ages of 18 to 64 making an annual income of $50,000 and up.
