ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI: Word reaching our news desk from senior Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Officials is that the Party Congress will vote on Saturday, December 1, 2018, to fill four of its at-large candidate positions for the 2019 General Elections.

According to the same source, 8 persons were nominated to fill four At-Large seats within the party. The eight persons include former Permanent Secretary and Businessman Julian Willock, businessman and former BVI Softball Association President Neville A. Smith aka ‘Sheep’, former 9th District Candidate and businessman Elton L. Sprauve aka ‘All Out’, Businessman and former Party President Cavin Malone, BVI Tourist Board Officer and Calypsonian Shereen D. Flax-Charles, Educator, Businesswomen and former candidate Sharie B. deCastro, former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority Claude O. Skelton-Cline plus businesswomen and author Mitsy J. Ellis-Simpson.

Change of Government?

Our newsroom caught up with one of the reported candidates Mr Willock who declined to comment but referred us to the VIP Chairman Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) who was not immediately available to respond to our inquiries, however, the Opposition VIP has already filled all of its district seats except for District two now held by the National Democratic Party’s (NDP) Hon Melvin M. Turnbull.

It is unclear which of the two NDP wings Hon Turnbull will be running with as the party has split with Co-Leader and Chairman Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL) heading one side and the Health and Social Development Minister Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) heading another side called the Virgin Islands Alliance.

Most political and social pundits are predicting a change of government but with the by-election looming in District 5 to fill the seat of the late Hon Delores Lettsome-Christopher, it will also be a good indication of the way voters feel. The VIP’s candidate in that race is Commissioner of Motor Vehicles Mr Kye M. Rymer.

However, still looking for guy hill to get involved in the political arena. He is fully qualify for the challenge ahead to move our country forward; unless, he’s too afraid NDP will dig-up his navel string and throw it in the ocean to drift off elsewhere. Come on man, we need you in the fight.

I looked. I analyzed. Of all 17 VIP candidate I see no capable Deputy.. The Closest to capability is Carvin. That's where I think Frazer made the biggest mistake of his political career to leave VIP. That position was there for him.. Old people so truly say " want all get none at all" Only a foolish Dog leave its yard go chasing a bone shadow..

Mitsy is on her own mission. She's just trying to use the VIP to get what she wants and not the country.

I am not from here in the BVI but I live here for a while and I am pleading with the VIP to leave Mitsy and Claude out of politics. Both can talk but they are for themselves especially Mitsy. She moreso will betray the VIP if she gets through. She's dangerous.

My fellow Virgin Islanders as we are all aware Mr. Carl Dawson was an At-Large Candidate in the Virgin Islands Party ticket in the June 2015 General Elections. Being a new commer at the time we all will agree the he performed extremely well. Through political victimization and bad mindedness on the part of MYRUN, Dawson was fired from the HLSCC. Anguilla then sees the good in the person MYRUN reject so Anguilla contracted him to be their State College Head. He then signed a contract with Anguilla Government and now head their College. Therefore he cannot breach that contract at this stage. If that was not the case, am sure we would have seen Carl Dawson name featuring first on the VIP At-Large list. The VIP has put out the names of eight persons as prospective At-Large Candidates of which four will be selected to go into battle. That are all excellent and intellectual persons who can represent the BVI anywhere, let’s stay focus, embrace those who make it in the end and vote VIP all the way come election day. As for those who talking about Deputy, anyone of the candidates can be Deputy, they are all highly qualified, intelligent and holds the people of the BVI close to their heart, they love country and they love people.

Let me tell u all straight up if u all don't know. I see a lot of greed in this 8... The four that will focus on representing us and not on their pockets Are 1/ Shareen, 2/ Decastro.... Can't find another two ..Shareen and Descastro, Will put people first. They are not about themselves or money...Let's get straight, let's be real...We need these two for sure. If anyone see it different to me I respect that..

I am not voting Party only for the best five individuals who are accomplished, have proven themselves to be financially prudent with their own purse, reputable in character, hard workers, personable, good communicators and have a fresh innovative and progressive vision to get this country back on its feet.

As much as I want change, I do not want change for change sake. People be careful who we select to represent us as these are serious times and just don’t select because it is VIP or NDP or whatever P.

Where are the candidates and their supporters lighting up these likes in support of bloggers that that like them? People all over the world read these blogs. They have enfluence believe it or not. Part of this business is a follow the crowd up or down. . The more likes the more serious consideration that one will get.... I see a candidate with 2 likes and 40, dislikes it doesn't get your attention. When there is a candidate with 30- 40 plus likes with 7 8 9 dislike that gets my attention.. NDP is better at this game!
