'VIP prepared for early elections!' – President Carvin Malone
He was speaking on the VIP’s Let’s Talk radio programme aired on Wednesday March 18, 2015, on ZBVI 780 AM.
“We are steady…we’re moving this process forward…we have to prepare ourselves because the way things are going it may well lead to very, very early elections. But we do have up until February 7, 2016 by which it could be held. We have prepared for all eventualities,” he said.
“We have set the date for the close of nomination at Monday March 30, 2015,” he said. He added that the Congress of the VIP could be called together as early as the fourth day after the receipt of the nominations.
“In the Constitution of the Virgin Islands Party, we have a process through which candidates are selected. You will recall that in May of last year we went through a process to select a new executive body, including the Chairman, President, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations and all of the administrative officers of the party,” he said.
“Article 20 of the Virgin Islands Party Constitution [speaks to] the process by which candidates are actually selected. You will be keen to know that once you come to nomination, sitting members don’t have to be selected by a district committee for instance. They have a pass as it relates to being put before the Congress…but they have to indicate their willingness to serve again and to seek to be placed on the ticket,” he said.
He said that nominations have to be in writing and must be sent to the Secretary of the VIP.
The party president said that in the past two months a tremendous amount of work had been done “because we feel that as opposed to the central party just going and arbitrarily selecting members who they may feel best for the district, we feel that this process is flawed. We feel that by going through the district committees we will have a better way of selecting candidates.”
“This screening committee is charged with getting the nomination from each of the district committee and by so doing it will ensure that all persons who are nominated fit the criteria that are in the Constitution of the Virgin Islands Party,” he said.

Ndp VIP we in big trouble ppl ndp did nothing for 3 years and up comes a hill tumbling down with work in the 4th one but they know the ppl of the bvi minds are shalow they forget fast.
