VIP internal elections set for September 2, 2015
This is according to information issued by President of the Virgin Islands Party, Mr Carvin Malone.
“In accordance with Article Seven, Sections 1 and 2 of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Bylaws, the VIP Congress will convene at 6:00pm at Marias By the Sea on Wednesday September 2nd 2015 for the purpose of conducting the election of officers to the party, whose posts will become vacant, namely: Chairman; President; Vice President; Secretary; Assistant Secretary; Treasurer; Assistant Treasurer; Public Relations Officer and Assistant Public Relations Officer. All ordinary members, in good standing, shall be eligible to be nominated to any vacant post,” the information circulated to party members stated.
It further stated that nominations shall be accepted by the VIP National Congress 14 days in advance from a Nominations Committee formed from among the party’s membership; or 7 days in advance from any two ordinary members of the VIP by written notice to the secretary; or from the floor from any two VIP Congressional Members during the course of the meeting.
“VIP Congressional Delegates, in good standing, selected in accordance with Article Six, Section 3 of the VIP’s Constitution and submitted to the Credentials Committee for certification within 14 days of the date of elections shall be entitled to vote for as many candidates as there are vacancies to be filled and no more,” party members were told.
It is not clear whether Chairman and Opposition Leader Hon Julian Fraser RA (R3) will be seeking re-election or whether Carvin Malone would seek re-election as President as both men could not be reached for comment as of post time.
Uncertain future for VIP
The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) lost the June 8 general elections in the Virgin Islands by an 11-2 landslide to the National Democratic Party (NDP).
The future of the party has since been thrown into question with the recent impasse over the post of Opposition Leader with both Hon Fraser and Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) expressing an interest and failing to come to a decision between themselves over who should be Opposition Leader.
Governor John S. Duncan then declared that Hon Fraser was the most suitable candidate for the post.
Apart from that, several losing candidates had written to Governor Duncan endorsing Hon Fahie to be the Opposition Leader.
There were also reports that some candidates blamed Hon Fraser for their loss at the elections and wanted him out as Chairman.

Get a Mal*** to pay you? Good luck with that, the greed of that family is legendary whether dealing with their money or other.
We understand clearly that F***r and his gang including you trying to paint a bad picture about Fahie talking piddle about lack of trust. I worked with Fahie & Fraser & it is clear that Fahie is a better leader and person. Fraser have decieved us every time. Remember the stop light, biwater, refuse to appologise putting Ralph to do so, digicel & I will stop there. Fraser listens to no one. He is bad for the VIP and the country.
And*** go sit down you disgracful self
Vote fraser a.. out!!!!!!
The VIP started failing as a result of Ralph holding on too long then the VIP put a modern day under cover Adolph Hitler as head. I can't join anyone blaming Fahie for VIP'S woes. He is a dangerous man & only persons like Fahie has the guts to tell him where to get off.
Throw in some names for President for us to review or is it that you cannot get past W****. Give us one or two more, please!! I am sure that Mr Malone is willing to move on at this time and will be willing to advise any new President. Names!! Give us names!!!
