ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - If automobiles could have voted, then the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) led by Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) will overwhelmingly take the government in today’s Monday, February 25, 2019 polls.

The party had one of the biggest motorcades ever seen in the Virgin Islands (VI) political history, held yesterday Sunday, February 24, 2019.

According to organizers at the motorcade, there was some 420 cars, SUVs, Trucks and Scooters cruising along in the territory. The motorcade started around 2:30 PM from the festival grounds in Road Town, heading west over Zion Hill down to Cane Garden Bay.

Biggest in history

The massive motorcade then proceeded over Myers and Great Mountain and then down to Huntums Ghut, though Long Bush then Lower Estate then headed East.

Julian Willock, a VIP member and supporter who helped organized the motorcade told our newsroom, “It was certainly a team effort and we were impressed that 99% of the vehicles were privately owned, no one was paid to be in our motorcade, or no cars were rented to make the line look long, it was just ordinary citizens out to show their support for change and renewal.”

Mr Willock further noted that each car had at least four passengers and all the candidates were out in their numbers.

The huge motorcade ended at the Festival Grounds around 9:30 PM where Singer and Evangelist Bridget Blucher brought more blessings through music.

NDP very small motorcade

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Party (NDP1) staged a smaller motorcade on Saturday, February 23, 2019. The Motorcade started from behind the Government’s Administration Complex around Tortola and returned to the complex.

Patrons from the NDP 1 event said there were just under 200 cars mostly rentals, and buses carrying invited persons.

Not one of these vehicles are lined up at the polls this morning. Anybody who would take a free rental voter or not, citizen or not were driving. The gimmick need to stop

stop trying to persuade voters in your skillful way. The people will speak, whether they saw motorcade or not, whether party or not
