‘VIP has stood test of time’ – Carvin Malone

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands Party (VIP) has stood the test of time and has proved the doubters wrong in their assertion that the party would become divided, said President Carvin Malone.

He was speaking on VIP’s ‘Let’s Talk’ radio programme aired last week Wednesday November 26, 2014 on ZBVI 780 AM.

According to Malone, there were many hurdles that doubters threw in front of the party. He said for example that persons doubted that the Representatives for the First and Third District, Hon Andrew A. Fahie and Hon Julian Fraser RA respectively could work with each other. They also said that the party would become divided and that it would be difficult to build a team, according to the VIP President.

“The Virgin Islands Party has stood the test of time and the constitution upon which it was founded and which has been revised a number of times is growing from strength to strength; the Virgin Islands is growing from strength to strength,” said VIP President Malone.

“So for anyone to pretend that the Virgin Islands has only developed because of an entry [by the National Democratic Party] in 2003 or the entry in 2011, well we would have to set the record straight on the development phase of these Virgin Islands,” he said.

“Campaign 2015 or 2016 will be based on restoring hope for a brighter day. In fact we were promised in 2011 that the quality of life will go up and it will stay there. Premier [Dr the Hon D. Orlando] Smith said in his budget address that the economy has turned around and that if you were to ask the question are you doing better today than you were three years ago that the answer was a resounding yes. We will examine that and explore exactly what it means,” said Malone.

stop living in the past; tell the people of the BVI what are the VIP's plans going forward...we need a list of representatives taking part in the upcoming 2015 elections...this he say/she days done; the BVI is at a very serious cross road and who takes us over the track come 2015 is utmost importance to the future of the BVI.....we all heard or lived what happened 20 or 30 years ago...what are you bring to the table for 2015 other than stupid political talk....will continue to say NDP or VIP same thing

Agreed. There is nothing moving the BVI forward with either of the current major parties in power. New leadership is required.

Ndp must go bottom line as only the vip could run this country

VIP built this country from scratch...roads, power stations, development bank, social security, hospital, schools, college, airport, cruise pier, sea ports, financial sevices etc. etc. etc......we did it thru good times and bad times, hurricanes after hurricanes...the VIP built a stable country where all can come, live and enjoy all that luxury has to offer....YOU NAME IT- VIP DID IT!

to ooooo; your post sounds really good; but that is all in the past; here are just a few facts for you(NOW) 2014 the bvi still experiences frequent power outages; the current cruise pier is outdated(was good for the 80s/90s); the road town and west end ports of entry needs some serious upgrades(they can not accommodate the currently flow of passengers)..listen, the most hurtful/shameful part, the BVI must NOW seek permission from the United Kingdom to borrow money(in the 70s this territory went from granting-aid; by 2011 we were forced to sign the protocols for effective financial management)....speaking about the road(very poor condition)..listen its one thing to build something but another thing to maintain what was built.... the future if the VI is far more than political parties(some of us just can see beyond VIP/PEP/NDP/PPP).....

The VIP of the past did all of those things you mentioned, what has the VIP over the last 10 years done ?
Not because there were great in the past means that they will continue to be great. Remember even the great
      Roman Empire fell.

Yes, we agree VIP did all of the above when the former leader was Chief Minister? Who is carrying on his vision? Show us and we will join you, but 20 years later, we can't see no one matching his contribution. Get a new Lavity and we will join your party. I don't see him in any of the other members. But it's not too late to take a page out of his book. Forward ever, let us not say 'never.'

You all keep forgetting the Government Administration Complex, VIP built that too. And while we at it, VIP also built the new Peebles Hospital (the same one NDP going to open on Dec 17th).

If we had followed the VIP borrowed slogan Forward Ever Backwards Never we would have been like Haiti by now. They are fresh out of ideas, they don't follow rules, they think they are above and beyond the country and only them can run it. They think ssb is a ATM because they started it, but I got news for them, Haiti, Guyana, and all those countries were just like us at one point and time. Government kill them.

This is the BIGGEST reason why I stop following VIP! They ride Lavity party to the Ground!

VIP was a great party with Lavity as the leader, as soon as he died the ship start to sink!

I left VIP since 2007 and ain't passing back until I see good men who has EVERYONE at heart!

It is a pity that VIP has become so weak they can only talk about the good old days of my boy Lavity!

The VIP of today reminds me of Lakers fans, can only talk about HISTORY!

What have you guys done for us lately ?

Regardless of your feelings Fraser right now is the best hope for the BVI as if the NDP gets back the UK will tek over

it is because of VIP the UK had to lay down the rules in 2011; fraser can not run the BVI by himself; it takes 13 elected persons...name the next 12 persons..... both NDP & VIP spends the tax payers money like its their personal money....

And in other news, the lakers are the best team in the nba now based on all the championships thT magic, Abdul, Kobe won back in the days. Shaggy P can now claim to be the man on that basis. You cNt make this stuff up. Vote for Fraser and VIP because of Hon h l Stoutt works even though he died almost 20 years ago. Shameless.
