ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party ( VIP ) Honourable Julian Fraser RA ( R3 ) has offered words of congratulations to the National Democratic Party ( NDP ) and it's leader Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith on victory at the 2015 polls.

Hon Fraser released a statement moments ago, June 10, 2015 in which he thanked the electorate and pledged to work with the elected government.

The Virgin Islands Party suffered a crushing defeat in the 2015 General Elections on June 8, in which they won only two seats. Hon Fraser was able to retain his seat as representative of the Third District, along with senior Virgin Islands Party member Andrew A. Fahie who remains the representative of the First District.

Below is the full text of Honourable Fraser's message:

"On behalf of the Virgin Islands Party, its Executive, the Membership, and the Candidates in the General Elections of 2015, I wish to express a heartfelt thank you to the people of the Virgin Islands, particularly those who participated in the electoral process on Friday June 5th and Monday June 8th by going to the polls to ensure our democracy.

While your choice for a Government was not the Virgin Islands Party, we nonetheless respect your decision which we do not take lightly, and we promise that we will honour it with the utmost of respect as we carry out the mandate you have given us.

It is also fitting that I take this opportunity to extend congratulations to Dr. D. Orlando Smith and his entire Elected NDP Team for their success at the polls, and to also assure them that the Opposition pledges to work with his government in the best interest of the people of the Virgin Islands."

Meanwhile, the official swearing in of Premier Smith and his Cabinet will be done today, June 10, 2015. It is not yet clear when the swearing in of the Members of the Third House of Assembly will be done.

NDP will end up doing 3 terms. VIP will still be dead at the next election, but PEP will have strengthened up its team and will be the unsuccessful party next time around, but they will capture 12 years from now, VIP will be what the United party is today.,

PEP will win the next election---use Christopher as their congress president--Start recruiting 13 members now---Seek the advice of the little man on the street--be their voice---Include expatriates and expatriates agenda--Of the 9,000 plus votes--half were expatriates---truth no one wants to hear--facts no one can deny---PEP for next election

The people of the BVI should never again accept being tricked like this into having no time and no options. We the people should insist that the Legislate the election date so the the fight is fair and the oucome one that we actually WANT.

Legislate the election Month---Example--it must be in November of the election year----To legislate an exact date is too much of a dictatorship---Give the Government a little le way to call the exact date--The important thing is that we all know it will be in November of 2019....That to me is satisfactory.

Congrats Honorable J. Fraser!! I really hope you work and corporate with the rest of the NDP team to move this country forward, there's no need for the opposition to be going back and forth with govt in charge especially in the HOA. Address your plans and ideas for the district in a respectable manner and work together as a team and let's get things done in our nature's little secret!!

If its beneficial to the people and done in an appropriate manner then there should not be any back and forth in HOA. But if it doesn't then by all rights you argue your point in the HOA, your not in there to be a yes man and no one should be.

The questions remain unanswered and we all need to hear the answers. Do you mean they have to go along with everything good or bad?

Wonders never cease, but let's see if he continues to be gracious and respectful in good or bad times. Any way this appears to be an encouraging start.

An opposing team in the HOA is very important . There are many issues and concerns that they do put forward in our interest. As the government gets lazy and lackadaisical it is the opposition that intervenes on our behalf, the high taxes, high electricity and it's services, water issue, increments and payments, social services, proper land distributions and the handling of the nation's accounts, etc. If not dog eat we supper

An opposition is needed. The opposition made you get your increment that the government kept for over three years. They paid one, started some projects after three and a half years then called an election. There's none so blind as he who won't see. You all should have voted 13 NDP and then you would have seen something.

VIP is a good party but they needed to focus on the issues and not the politicians. see them in about 8 years !!!!
    • Wha VIP? (10/06/2015, 19:53) Like (1) Dislike (2) Reply
Wize up, the VIP is dead and will be replaced by an improved PEP as the new comer. Alvin just need to rid the party of Rhymer, keep Elford and Sowande, try to get Shaina, Dancia as deputy and Zoe plus a few good people from the VIP (if he can get Karl).

Fraser was totally outmaneuvered and is obviously not a strategist. That snap election was a work of genius together with the combined attacks on Fraser for mistakes and statements he made as far back as 2 elections ago. The NDP likely have a few more tricks up their sleeve for 2019 and frankly, Fraser is not as smart as he thinks he is. But it looks Alvin anticipated this possibility and sacrificed this term for a reasonable shot at an upset in 2019.

Wishful thinking. The NDP campaign was character assassination of Fraser not the issues. But hold on time will tell

People need to stop being so bold faced and shady. On face book you see lots of like on Suwande post after election t but yet on election day it didn't translate to at large votes. If you with the man your with him. These voters ain't loyal.
Then people with their crap but next time. When ndp done with this place who going to want it?

Bad prophet- election is about winning and if attacking the unlikeliness and unpopularity of the leader is a winning message---stick with it......I think pushing the message of the minimum wage worker--the poor, the expatriates. Is a winning message----I am looking forward to seeing PEP embracing this idea---VIP has become the anti party for expatriates--they are so much inter-relationship marriage and other-wise, no party can win, branded as anti expats. if NDPs don't finish these roads properly with-in the next two years and address the pension issue, address the high medical fees and the board issues-find away to make NHI work where its embraced...NDP will be out next election..I assure you
