POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI- Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) found another reason to reiterate statements made in the past, that victimisation and deception are at an all-time high with the National Democratic Party (NDP) Government in power.

Speaking at the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) ‘Mix & Mingle’ at the R&R Malone Complex in Pockwood Pond, Tortola on January 25, 2017 Hon Fahie, while welcoming those in attendance, said some people told him they wanted to attend the event but couldn't because they work with Government. “…We know that victimisation [is] at its highest, deception is at its highest.”

In the past, Hon Fahie has spoken out against victimisation and sexual harassment in the civil service and that public servants are not being protected. He has also called for whistleblower legislation to protect persons against victimisation.

On the issue of deception, Hon Fahie contended that the public is being deceived by Government since it has not been producing audited financial statements.

“You can’t tell me that you can be accountable to country when you have reached to a point now where you have 10 unaudited financial statements…Most of you I see here work in private companies. And you know that if one year passes and you do not audit your books, and you the manager, chances are you will get fired.”

Hon Fahie resolved that the people now have to save the National Democratic Party Government from themselves, “by putting in a Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government.”

Last saved & first saved is saved

Reiterating also that he was not going to do the old things to get new results, Hon Fahie said the party has to bring in new people and they must be welcomed and treated equally.

“We brought in a set of new people and a few people said they just come,” Hon Fahie stated, adding that he said he didn’t understand their statement because “you in a church and last saved and first saved is saved. So how come in a political party, last come must not have the same rights as first come? Then you are not building a party you are building a club.”

He said the party has to expand its borders if it wishes to stand a chance at the next general elections.

“We have to not only bring in the young but a cross section. I have seen some of the errors, including mine, and I know if we do not make the adjustments we are not going to win the next general elections.”

Meanwhile, Hon Fahie announced that he was going to deliver his annual report to his First District constituents from 7:00 P.M. at Cappoon’s Bay Recreational Ground on January 28, 2017.

For a VIP that is trying to unseat the NDP government, this is pure assishnes. Why Fahie gone go fight for opposition Leader ? This should be a time of fullthroated unity, not division, and fights and throwing words at the julians

However, from what I understabd and learnt about victimization and deception he knows it well. People if u can't see a BVI Trump here by going back to the interception of Scatliffe and Dancia in the election that persons can never get out of their minds. After the last general election he and others who were not elected to the HOA executed and sent a letter to the Governor for the position of Leader of the Opposition against the then Chairman and Leader of the VIP Julian Fraser. Then with the help of the former President who has been in siding him and others in the VIP blacklisted and undermind the former chairman Julian Fraser. Furthermore, see what the now still went back on his own words and now seeking the position of Leader of the Opposition. This has shown me I just can't trust Andrew nor Ca**in for them are FAKE and has brought the division in the VIP and been blaming Julian Fraser all along. If can see it tell me why a school child can tell me how bad her parents are not in favour the way their party has become and both Julian and Andrew should've step aside and allow fresh blood to enter for their districts are safe but real genuine people for country should have been allowed. But I guess the party is Andrew or Julian and it isn't going to go far with a huge division if them haven't disposed Julian from the party. For me if I was Julian I would never be there cause the VIP mash up them-self with the nasty ways. TRUST is the key to lead..

    How do we gain Respect?

My family would have respected Fahie 100% if he had written his letter to his colleague expressing his concerns about his supposed lack of cooperation in the party, instead of written to the great white hope, governor, once again, who has already shown his colours from his time on the island and now just waiting out his time to leave.

After our forefathers and mothers were left in these islands “to suck salt through wooden spoons” and told that these islands will only become bird sanctuaries, our people found a way among themselves to work out their differences and set up the foundations in which “we all walk on today.”

Fahie gave us his word and behind our backs ran to an ineffective governor for justification. This has left a sour taste in my family mouth who was just starting to appreciate and favour his bravado. Be BRAVE enough to go straight to your brother and work out you’ll problems before you run outside of your political family for favour; only then, when all attempts have failed, one should seek external intervention. Even utilizing the three (3) strike universal rule could have applied here. First- “the-talk-it-out attempt,” trailed by the 2nd and 3rd follow-up letters. After, if there was no solution realized, only then, should the “external no hold bars” fiercely enacted.

Only then, if details of the situation became publicly exposed- The VI PUBLIC – who LIKE or DISLIKE you – would overwhelmingly “Respected” you for your “Fair” attempts to work-out you’ll differences and RALLY with you 97%. The 3% difference is for some of our people, who, regardless of the outcome, lack any sense of reasoning.

The way forward, apologize to your colleague for your ill-advised tactic for reconciliation, and if accepted, sit-down and work out you’ll problems like two (2) grown men. There is a Bigger Picture here- Our Country Future is at the crossroads.

“Think Forward, Not Backwards.” Every other human group find a way to work out their differences and progress together (Chinese, Arabs, Hispanics, Filipinos, Europeans, [Jews], Indians, etc.).

Why should we as a people of the Diaspora continue to accept and embrace this “slavish mental conditioning?

New Day, New Way, New Say! Set the Example for the New Way of Leadership in Our Country, moving forward.
