Vibert Morgan freed of theft charge
Morgan was accused of allegedly stealing two batteries belonging to LIME BVI some time between January and April 2014.
The Senior Magistrate said she found Morgan to have been consistent and upright about how he came in possession of the two batteries.
She recalled that during his testimony under oath, which he did while not having legal representation, he had said he was given permission to take the two batteries as they were to have been disposed of.
He had even testified that where he was at the time there were numerous new batteries and he could have stolen without it being missed. He suggested that the person who had given him permission to take the batteries, but testified in court that he didn't, did so to cover himself.
Despite being cleared of allegations of battery theft, Morgan was remanded back to prison as another case of theft is yet to be completed.
It is alleged that in 2012 when he was an employee at Delta Petroleum as a customer service assistant, Morgan used a customer's credit card without authorisation and had purchased tickets from LIAT and other things at the overall cost off $8,000.
This latter matter is to come up again in court on July 15, 2015.
