ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The BVI Festivals & Fairs Committee (BVIF&FC) this evening August 8, 2014 announced that the 2014 Diamond Jubilee Road March Champions are the group VIBE.

“The Road March Champs will close out the festivities [tomorrow] Saturday August 9th at the Iris Freeman Festiville,” a press release from the BVIF&FC said.

Congratulating VIBE and all the BVI bands for a job well done during the Emancipation Festival, the BVIF&FC said that the remaining parade results will be available for release tomorrow.

Speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online this evening Band Manager of VIBE Mr. Roger N. Frank said that the win was “rewarding for all the of the hard work that we put in. As you know we changed the name of the band about four months ago [from VI Showtime]. It is exciting…a bit overwhelming. It is like all the hard work we put in paid off.”

Frank attributed teamwork to the band’s success. “We are a very tight-knit group. The guys trusted the plan that we set out to go ahead and accomplish in terms of what we were trying to do in changing the name of the band,” he said.

He credits songs such as 'Bubble' and 'Not Waiting' from their album for the success accomplished. “Those are the songs that pushed us in the Road March contest,” he said. “The guys are very proud of the work that they did on this album. It paid off in terms of the goals that we tried to achieve,” he said.

Asked where VIBE goes from here, Frank said, “well the sky’s the limit but we are just taking it one step at a time. We have a plan that we are progressing on slowly but surely.”

He said that the band wants to get its music more “out there” so they will be travelling around the Caribbean to achieve this objective.

Showtime Band won the Road March title six years in succession before yielding this year to VIBE.

Road March is judged by which song is played ONLY on the parade route!! If ViBE song was played the most then they are the true road March champs. We are finally getting something right in the BVI

I kinda agree but umm village night vibe killed horse race vibe killed carrot bay vibe killed parade day vibe killed. . Look at the nights they give show time to play in the village. The one big night which was the reggae night they pulled them off the stage. Vibes got all the big night in the village. If show time was last year road march champs why didn't they play after Destra to open the village. That's like Anazazi coming up first in the parade instead of last . People in the bvi are to bad minded once you're not apart of a certain click you will never get any recognition. This place will never get any better. Not a fan of any just observed the whole festival lay out

I am not into the various bands or popular music, but on parade day all you were hearing is VIBES bend your knees and bubble...so I would say they deserved to win Road March. I cant even tell you what Showtime or the other bands sang with the exception of whichever band sang "put on a show'

You tone def or something. Showtime don't play music any more cause the real showtime members are in vibe. Boss struggling big time. That band he has could never live up to the showtime that brought all them road march. And sort out was done by the members of vibe. Boss went and run with it. So to me boss hasn't won a real road march on his own. You all bigging him up when he is the one who cause showtime to win. And all ahyo defending him. Set of fouls
