VI youth basketballers make clean sweep on St Croix
The Virgin Islands team won their two group games, against Nuff respect of St Thomas and Lakers of St Croix, to advance to the final where they faced North Carolina Elites.
The VI youngsters, under coaches Kennedy H. Bass and Brian ‘Bash’ Brewley, further impressed those in attendance at the Central Gymnasium in St Croix as they won the final 65-60 on Saturday evening, September 17, 2016.
The scores were even at 28 at half–time; however, the Virgin Islands boys went on a 12-0 run on the resumption and controlled the game from there.
“I wasn’t surprised but was impressed with the team, everyone was impressed...we basically outplayed them,” commented Mr Bass, who noted that his team defended well.
The team included Gianni Maduro, Ronald Antoine, Stephon S. Caul, Jasin Rhymer, Kasean Wyllie, Jachoy Walwyn, Devante Brewley, Malique Wattley, Nixon Hamilton and Hakeem Penn.
Mr Roy L. Garraway was the Manager.
The team was also accompanied by a few parents.
