ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Claude O. Skelton Cline, in his radio programme, Honestly Speaking on Tuesday October 2, 2018, quoted a passage from scripture “…a house divided against itself cannot stand.”

He went on to describe what he referred to as the divisive ‘triangulation’ that is turning the Virgin Islands (VI) into a failed State.

“In one corner you have the AG (Attorney General) and the Governor, in another corner you have Premier (Dr the Honourable D. Orlando) Smith, Ministers (Mark H.) Vanterpool and (Myron V.) Walwyn and in yet another corner you have Ministers (Ronnie W.) Skelton and (Kedrick  D.) Pickering, all fighting against each other, in an effort to hold on to power or gain more power.”

In the mean time, the people’s business is not being adequately attended to, “recovery is stalled, the citizens are increasingly growing despondent and the United Kingdom (UK) is closing in…We need Elections now”.

Front Bench/ Back Bench

The social commentator said too, “by the way, that’s just the front bench on the back bench, the member from the 8th (District) has aligned himself with the Premier’s clan and has accused the AG—who for the first time in recent history had to stand up in the House of Assembly (HoA) and defend his name and the credibility of his office against the Government of misleading the HoA which is synonymous with calling him a liar.”

The member from the Second District has sided with Ministers Skelton and Pickering corner, who also in the sitting of the HOA on September 20, 2018, accused the Premier and Minister of Finance and his government of which he is a part of not being completely honest with the people as to the condition of the Territory.

Skelton Cline also called to remembrance the song “we were all taught as children and began to sing as he was joined by Dr Karl Dawson and Mr Carvin Malone, “London bridge is falling down, falling down falling down, London bridge is falling down in Tortola…if this thing was not so real it would be comical he opined but it is real and our people deserves so much better, we need Election Now.”

Well Sah, because VIP has candidates now it’s time for reflection. You will be left in the cold after all your efforts. What starts wrong does not end right.

not addressing the public claims as it relates to the mismanagement of the ports funds: the director of any enterprise is liable and accountable for the movements of its money: the public continues to cry-out about their missing tax money: pure political old talk and the question still remains(where are those missing dollars) pointing fingers wont change the situation

I truly think VIP should consider Carvin Malone for District 2.. I honesty believe he had a good chance of winning #2..

I'm in agreement with what pastor says... It's a mess and the message both external and internal that they are sending is that the BVI is messed up.. . Greed and Power.. Our failure.. Back then, now and the future.. Greed and Power will continue to fail us... Greed and Power - Selfishness.. God we seek your intervention.

How easily and long ago we seem to have forgotten H Lavitty Stoutt's oft quoted from the bible" despite celebrating his existence once a day with a national holiday. "Where there is no vision the people will perish" he was fond of saying. What has been the vision for the BVIs in the last 20 years, besides evident cronyism, corruption and lack of accountability (fiscal and otherwise)? Why is it that those elected into office focused unlinking their pockets instead of solving the nation's problems? How much better could it have been when the BVI's GNP was $ 1 billion per year? Why no investment in education? Or, infrastructure (roads, power supply, water)? As the aphorism goes: as you sow, so shall you reap. We now live in a divided land, full of mistrust between belongers themselves, and one where outsiders are treated with disdain. Not much different from most big lottery winners, who within about ten years of collecting their winnings are back where they were. Very sad. We lost a fantastic opportunity. Recovery to any form of sanity will alas take a lot more work, dedication and sacrifice. The question remains is there enough of it in the BVIs.

Maybe, just maybe he is trying to form his own party. There is something up this man"s sleeve. He said he was going to bring down the NDP for kicking him to the curb.
