ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The National Football Team departed this morning, Tuesday May 27, 2014, for Aruba where it will be competing in Group Two of the 18th edition of the Caribbean Cup and for a chance to reach the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Also in the group are the host, Aruba, French Guiana and the Turks and Caicos.

The first game is Friday May 30, 2014 against French Guiana at 6.30pm followed by Aruba on Sunday June 1, 2014 at 8.30pm and the final game against the Turks and Caicos on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 6.30pm.

The full VI squad comprises Damien Farrell, Gregory James, Andy Davis (Captain), Joel Fahie, Fladimir Septus, Christopher Telemaque, Trevor Peters, Jasquever Frett, Troy Caesar, Jamal Sergeant, Kevin Fisher, Rushedo Robinson, Jhon Samuel, Vanquever Frett, Rondell Delfish, Shamoy Thompson, James Shearman, Montgomery Butler and Javier Smith.

The Manager is Val Rose, the Assistant Coach, Lenroy Henry and the Head Coach, Avondale Williams. “I’m very pleased with the commitment of the players over the last few weeks of training and we can expect a much better performance than in previous years,” noted Williams ahead of the team’s departure.

“We are reaching the venue a couple of days ahead and will add the finishing touches to our plans before the opening game against French Guiana. We are aiming at qualifying for the next round in Puerto Rico and have done a lot of preparation on the mental side of the game as well as tactical. Our goal is to compete at the highest level and come out on top of the group,” Williams said.

The Tournament acts as a qualifier for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and the group winner will progress into Group Four which contains Puerto Rico (host Nation), Grenada and Curacao.

@ rattie.... You sound so stupid. In order for you to play for the BVI @ that level you have to be a holder of a BVI passport or have some kind of documentation for the BVI. In the past they were players that represented the island who were not from here and that can still happen now. But majority of the team has to be BVIslanders, which the picture that you are looking at, they are.

And to be frank with you if they were interested they would have been there but they are not so you can't see them. So stop with the nonsense. Its time to get up and be wise and stop being ignorant about things that don't matter. Got too many other important things going on in the BVI for you to worry about no locals being on a soccer team.

All players must have a BVI Passport or Belonger card. Most of these players are born bvislanders. Don't mind the last names
