ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – World Cancer Day is commemorated globally on February 4th as a day used to raise awareness about cancer, encourage people to continue preventing and detecting the disease and also to showcase new ground-breaking research of innovative treatments.

The BVI Cancer Society according to President Ms Gloria A. Fahie says the organisation will join in celebrating World Cancer Day on Monday, February 4, 2019, in the Virgin Islands (VI).

“We would like to encourage our community to acknowledge this day by wearing one of the cancer awareness ribbons, pins, or colours,” she said.

New office to be dedicated

According to a release, on the same Monday at 5:30 pm, the BVI Cancer Society will also be dedicating its new office and celebrating with a short ceremony.

“We humbly ask the community to join us as we pay tribute to the survivors, fighters and the taken,” the release notes.

The new office is located on Main Street, Road Town, in the Irvine's Place Building (White & Red) directly across the street from VP Bank and the Cancer Society is inviting the all residents of the VI come out and support.
