VI invited to welcome home Melanie Amaro

Melanie Amaro will be performing at the Music Festival on Sunday May 27, 2012.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The public is invited to join the Government of the Virgin Islands, family and friends at the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport to welcome home X Factor winner Ms. Melanie Amaro who will arrive in the Territory tonight Saturday, May 26 at 10:00 p.m.

Amaro is one of the headliners for Sunday night's BVI Music Festival. The three day event takes place May 25 to 27 in Cane Garden Bay.

Premier and Minister for Tourism, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE said he is excited and pleased that Ms. Amaro is returning home for a visit. It is the first time since her debut on the hit musical competition, The X Factor USA.

In December, during a personal conversation, Premier Smith asked Ms. Amaro to put the Virgin Islands high on her priority list of places to visit.

Additionally, he told Melanie that the BVI Tourist Board will speak with her about possible areas of mutual cooperation.

In response, Ms. Amaro said, “I love the BVI, it is my home. I will definitely promote the BVI. When people ask me where I am from, I am always proud to tell them I am from the BVI.”

While in the Territory, Premier Smith will host a cocktail reception in honour of Ms. Amaro.
