VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI – Following this news site's recent publication of a story highlighting issues of work being taken away from the Virgin Gorda (VG) BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) office, several other persons from other government offices on the Sister Islands have complained to us regarding the same problem.

Residents and employees alike on the Sister Islands said that the problem being faced by the BVITB office on Virgin Gorda is not an isolated one and many other offices suffer the same fate.

“It’s just that someone in the Tourist Board office got the balls to stand up or rather take the lead and bring this issue in the open and I personally thank that person,” said an employee of a certain government VG department.

Several calls were made to Jost Van Dyke and Anegada as well and the complaints were the same.

“To tell you the truth because I trust you to keep my identity secured I go out and do other things and make a extra dollar and even do volunteer stuff in my community because there is absolutely noting that I am allowed to do over here, mind you there are lots to be done but they don’t allow us to do our jobs and when something gets heavy, which could have been avoided in the first place, they would send persons from Tortola who come like the boss and take over and doing things ill informed and ill-advised and most time we have to turn around and redo their stupidness,” said a Government employee on Anegada.

The complaints were universal on all the three Sister Islands when it came to dealing with especially Water and Sewerage Department (W&SD) and BVI Electricity Corporation. “We have work to do but we get instruction not to do things and the all the time send people from Tortola to do our job as if we are not competent, we know our jobs but for some reason they behave like Tortola workers better than us which is bull,” said a W&SD VG worker.

They said that their needs to be a meeting with the Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable D. Orlando Smith in the presence of the various department heads for workers to speak candidly about the issue as they feels these concerns do not reach him.

“We usually have to depend on VINO, many people say all sorts of things about VINO but it’s the candid unbiased site that gives all sides and people reading that site so will have to come to VINO if it comes to that. I personally on several instance called, approached a certain other news site (name called) and they told me and other point blank they can’t carry our story, for real I even have a conversation on record to prove that,” said a VG resident and government employee.

That's exactly why this administration wants to "limit online media" so that the people of the Virgin Islands are left in the dark as to what is going on in the territory.

A poet once said: "there is no progress in life unless there is change".

The British Virgin Islands needs a change in administration!

I'm a all the way in supporter of the Government and not of our district Rep but if the government continue to govern in this manner truthfully a change would be necessary

From what is happening now. The bias decisions and actions need to be stopped. They go on like Virgin Gordans are not BVIslanders.

It's the BVI Tourist Board, not VG Tourist Board or Tortola Tourist Board. We are our own worst enemies. They should contract some white people from UK or USA to run it so they can stop the f..king bickering over every minor bull..it.

About time. This should stop the favourtism and harrassment that some employees get from their supervisors and heads of department as they are accountable to no one and the poor staff have to rely on the Media

All other islands becoming Tola satellites. Tola will be BVI. Others becoming commuter islands and residence of rich expats. This country is being systematically carved up for political profit, no turning back. Residents of outlying island become rich selling their land to expats but with nowhere to live. nothing for future generations. More cultural destruction.

This same thing happened to me also. Why do you think persons change jobs so frequently. Victimization by those in charge. Especially when the minister has that supervisors back. It makes no sense to complaine so you just move on. The thing is the Supervisor does not have the manners to tell you. This friendship thing has got to stop. This is why there is such a lack of trust within the system. Who do you talk too. Who is adequately evaluating these Supervisors and based on what. I am still bitter but that's life.
