VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- A sports bar at the Virgin Gorda Recreation Ground was burglarised some time on Monday, March 30, 2020, according to reports reaching our newsroom.

The bar was broken into and a locked beverage cooler vandalised and items taken.

The doors to the loaded beverage cooler was secured by a chain and padlock; however, the burglar/s broke the tempered glass to gain access to the beverages.

If it is any consolation for the owners; however, the beverage cooler was not emptied.

It is unclear at this time whether any arrests have been made.

The Virgin Islands proceeded on a round-the clock curfew from Friday, March 27, 2020. The curfew expired on April 2, 2020 but has since been extended for another 14 days.

Meanwhile, at least two burglaries during curfew hours were reported on Tortola.

It is time to install these CTV cameras so these perpetrators can be caught and when they do ensure they receive the maximum sentence. No excuses.

I disagree with maximum sentence why waste tax payers money simply tie those perpetrators to a tree and allow us to beat the fu($ out of them but we have to follow the letter of the law?????

Maximum? There is nothing naming so in bvi but for maximum disrespect and lawlessness! The court always go with the short arm of the law as everyone is related or no someone, until that is dealt with forget it

@ Hmm: you need help because the local man got three years for a taking The twelve inch television after the hurricanes BUT the person got just six years for killing another human being. Let's not discuss those enforcement officers who were looting during those hurricanes and to this day never ended up before any court in this territory and still practicing law enforcement. You will be alright Hmmm!!!!!

If at all possible, can any of the business owners sleep at their businesses on a roll away cot or something? The Burglars are costing the owners thousands of dollars, some may nor be able to recoup. Cameras are great, but if the Burglars are covered head to toe, it is difficult to prove. I wish one of them would be caught, beaten unmercifully, and then made to lay there until the Police arrive. I am so sick of these low lifes I don't know what to do.

All are not just bars. They are restaurants that you eat at too, and they also sell liquor. So you are saying it is okay to destroy someones only income because you don't like bars? Well you are just as bad as the ones destroying businesses making an honest living. The crooks are the ones breaking in. Those boxes they broke will cost a few thousand dollars to replace. SMDH at people like you..... hateful!

No jobs, no money. No money, some people will resort to steal. Is not right but is reality. Look at what they stole, drinks. It was a thirsty burglar. The cost of replacing the cooler doors is higher than the loot.
