USVI police seeking public's assistance in finding man accused of kidnapping

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— The [US] Virgin Islands Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating a man accused of kidnapping someone. Though police did not clarify who the suspect had kidnapped, the case has been categorised as a domestic violence situation.

The suspect is named Tomas Melendez III, according to police. He is a Hispanic male weighing about 150 lbs, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, and is of a light complexion, according to a description provided by police. His occupation is landscaping.

Mr. Melendez drives a red 1991 GMC Sierra truck, with a veterans license plate number V3L. He is also known to frequent the Williams Delight area.

If located, call 911 or 340-778-2211, or make contact with Detective S. Gabriel of the Criminal Investigation Bureau Domestic Violence Unit @ 340-712-6077. You can also contact Crime stoppers USVI, where your tip could lead to a payday worth thousands.
