ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The United States Virgin Islands (USVI) Police Department donated much needed protective kits, including body armour, to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on Friday, May 1, 2020, as a joint collaboration to continue the fight against any potential security threats emanating from the current COVID-19 crisis.
Commissioner of Police, Michael B. Matthews states that he is extremely grateful to his friend and colleague Commissioner Trevor Velinor for this most generous gesture.
It is also an excellent example of the continuing partnership between the two forces to jointly fight crime on our mutual borders. The equipment will be shared with teams from Customs and Immigration here in the Territory as well as the RVIPF.
As the phased re-opening of the Territory continues over the coming months, the safety of our citizens, as well as our frontline officers, are paramount. Let us continue to work together as we navigate through this crisis.
