USVI Police arrest man allegedly involved in boardwalk robbery

CHRISTIANSTED, St Croix, USVI- [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced via press release that police arrested Pernell Towers, 30, at approximately 1:32 a.m. on Sunday June 26, 2016 in connection with a recent robbery incident that occurred on the Boardwalk in downtown Christiansted, St Croix.

The Boardwalk has surveillance cameras at various points, and Mr. Towers was identified as the suspect who robbed a male victim of cash and a mobile phone, according to Mr. Dratte. The suspect was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise-of-rights hearing.

According to police, this robbery was the second incident in the past two weeks, and police have apprehended suspects in both cases. Police also thanked the community for assisting with information that led to the arrests.
