CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- Governor Kenneth E. Mapp has granted administrative leave to non-essential employees for Friday, November 27, 2015, a press release from Government House issued late Wednesday November 25, 2015 has revealed.

“The holiday season is upon our territory and we all look forward to the gathering of family and friends on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2015. I would like to extend that holiday and grant administrative leave on Friday, November 27, 2015 to all non-essential employees of the executive branch of government,” Mr. Mapp said.

According to the release, the leave granted shall not apply to essential employees and employees on a regular or rotating shift of the executive branch.  Employees on annual or sick leave immediately preceding or immediately following the time period administrative leave is granted, will not receive administrative leave.  Future leave will not be granted to employees who are considered essential and/or whose shift happens to fall on a day in which other employees are granted administrative leave.

Commissioners and directors will determine the essential versus non-essential roles of employment of employees within their departments and agencies, respectively, it concluded.
