ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The clash between the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and the Virgin Islands may have gone the way of the USVI, 89-60, but the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) 2014 championships Tournament hosts, the BVI, finished second in Group B and qualified for today’s semi-finals at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

The local derby saw the USVI put in one of their best all round performances in a long time as the CBC defending Champions raced into an 11-0 lead in the first quarter, mainly thanks to the shooting of Aaron Brown and Jason A. Edwin.

Norville Carey, who would end up the BVI’s top scorer finally got his team on the score board just over half way through the first period, which would end 20-7 to the USVI.

The USVI kept adding to the advantage, with the lead reaching 25 points during the second quarter and it kept growing.
The score at the end of the first half, USVI 46 - BVI 21.

The top scorer of the first half was Jason A. Edwin of the US Virgin Islands with 9 points. The advantage of the US Virgin Islands continued to rise through the third quarter and although the BVI put up a much better offensive performance, the US Virgin Islands always found a way to respond. At the end of the third quarter the team led by Milton Barnes was up by 32 points, 69 – 37.

The fourth quarter started with a four point play by Halstead “JR” Chiverton but the advantage was too high and the victory and the top spot of Group B belonged to the team of the USVI.

Carey top scored for the BVI with 15 points, “JR” notched 11 and Rasheed Cann 10. The USVI were led by Aaron Brown’s 19, 17 from Jason A. Edwin and 14 from Angel Rivera.

The BVI now faces a tough semi final against the Bahamas at 9pm tonight whilst the USVI plays Cuba in the 6.15pm game.

This uniform is soooooo WAK, and WTH is that white Band Aid, sticker thingie name tag on the players back, like seriously. I wonder "Who to Blame" for this embarrassing, worst dress, pajama looking uniform. this is what happens when you "Play to Cheep", Procrastinate and micro manage. The end result "A Hot Mess"
