U.S. tourist dies on Anegada

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI -Police are confirming the death of a 68-year-old male U.S. visitor on Anegada yesterday afternoon.Reports indicate that the deceased and his wife were visiting Anegada on a day sail, swimming at Loblolly Bay, when the wife noticed her husband face down and motionless in the water close to the shoreline.

She sought assistance from others on the beach to get him to shore where attempts were made to resuscitate him. He was then taken to the Anegada Clinic where efforts continued to revive him. He was later taken to Tortola where he was officially pronounced dead.

The Coroner was informed and a post-mortem is to be scheduled.

The Crisis Intervention Team along with representatives from the Tourist Board provided assistance.

The deceased name is being withheld at this point.
