US resident reportedly drowns @ Trellis Bay

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Police are confirming the sudden death of male visitor Andrew Ripley, 52, resident of the U.S., born in Wolverhampton, England.

A friend of the deceased reported that he and the deceased had left a bar at Trellis Bay late Thursday evening and was returning to a sailboat anchored out in the bay.

The deceased had been given assistance to climb onto the boat ladder but fell into the water. When the deceased was rescued from the water, he was not breathing. He was later pronounced dead.

Police today have confirmation that the next of kin has been notified and the Coroner’s Office was informed.

Police investigations are ongoing.
