ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – One of the key players in the first ever BVI Exquisite Boat Show Ms Meslyn M. Allan has sought to further emphasize the benefits that are to be derived by winner/s of the inaugural event being organised by a group of four young people.

At the launch on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, the BVI Exquisite Boat Show team unveiled the details of the upcoming event and while it was indicated that the overall winner prize is $4,500 Ms Allen has recently further explained that the winner can actually take away a total of $8K.

She stated that with an impressive offering of prizes, the top prizewinner can win more than $8,000 in cash. The prize-winning categories include best overall boat, best paint job, cleanest engine, best interior, safest boat, smallest boat and biggest boat.

“We encourage boaters near and far to come out and be a part of this exciting boat show for an opportunity to win thousands of dollars in cash and/or prizes. We have created the BVI Exquisite Boat Show to cater to the needs of everyone, especially boaters, boat lovers and boat owners, by offering boats for sale, featuring unique boats and providing an opportunity to be recognised as the best in your boat’s category,” said Ms Allan, Event Manager.

The BVI Exquisite Boat Show will be taking place on the shores of Scrub Island Resort and Marina on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will have entertainment that includes great music from popular local DJ Pushpop, rhythmic dances from the Anasazi Dancers, RC boat demonstrations and a fashion show.

Boaters and boat enthusiasts from the neighbouring islands of Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John and the state of Florida, USA, will congregate on the shores of the VI to participate in this phenomenal event.

1st Exquisite boat show for VI as new breed of promoters emerges

- Major corporate entities hop on board for historic moment. LIME takes premium spot

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Youths of the Virgin Islands are responding well to the calls to enter into private enterprise with new and/or developed initiatives. This to a great extent has taken some by surprise while the more established businesses and visionaries have grasped the opportunity to mark their names in the groundbreaking moment.

This is well applicable to the story of two young entrepreneurs Ms Meslyn M. Allan and Mr Anthony D. George and their premium sponsor LIME BVI. The duo is poised to organize the first BVI Exquisite Boat Show set for May 24, 2014. Two others are said to be in partnership with the duo.

Their group was best described as “a team of four young, energetic, goal-oriented individuals” who have guaranteed that the phenomenal event will be the perfect start to this summer’s activities.

Yesterday February 25, 2014 the promoters launched the new show where their major Sponsor LIME BVI announced their $15,000 plus sponsorship purse for the event. Speaking at the launch promoter Ms Allan said that the initiative was a vision that they had toiled with for some time.

“So we decided why we don’t do it,” she told her audience. She said that just over a year they made the conscience decision to take on the challenge and today they are overwhelmed with the support gained both locally and internationally.

“The BVI Exquisite Boat Show is an event that offers boaters, boat enthusiasts and hobbyists the opportunity to showcase their passions for one of the world’s most alluring water toys: boats! During this event you will be able to walk on board some of the finest boats at sea, purchase and sell boats, or simply peruse the various offerings on hand,” outlined the promoter.

They said that as the sailing capital of the world, no location is more ideal for this event than right here in the picturesque VI, home to the best sailing waters in the world.

The BVI Exquisite Boat Show is a festive, one-day nautical event filled with music, entertainment and a host of top prizes. It will be held on Saturday, 24 May 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Scrub Island Resort & Marina in the British Virgin Islands.

Boat owners and aficionados from the BVI and the neighbouring Islands of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Martin, and the state of Florida will congregate on the exquisite shores of Tortola for a one-of-a-kind boating experience. The BVI Exquisite Boat Show is the opportunity to exhibit your vessel, flaunt your masterpiece, and win prizes for your cherished boat.

Throughout the day patrons are sure to enjoy fashion show, RC boat demonstration, music among other entertainment pieces.

“This time is no less special than others as we are always here for a common purpose: to witness another occasion where LIME, the premier community partner in the BVI, is making another meaningful contribution to the Territory,” so said General Manager LIME BVI Mr Sean Auguste as he delivered the opening remarks at yesterday’s launch.

He was keen to note that people never forget the first of any event and thus, LIME’s sponsoring of the first ever Exquisite Boat Show will be an unforgettable occasion for them as a company and for the VI as a Territory.

“This sponsorship...partnership...vote of confidence in this new addition to the tourism product of this Territory aligns with one of LIME's goals which can largely be defined as having an acute interest in supporting and investing in events that in turn create opportunities for economic growth for many people across the Virgin Islands.”

According to Mr Auguste when the BVI opens its shores to these luxury boats and the enthusiasts that follow this type of lifestyle, his company wants the VI to be ready to receive the region and to be considered a world-class destination, worthy of hosting an event like this. “With the backing of a world-class company like LIME, this is assured,” he stated with all confidence.

The promoter had also stated the BVI Tourist Board (BVITB) as one of their other key supporters and this was confirmed by Events Marketing Manager of the BVITB, Mr Rhodni Skelton. In assuring Government’s support via BVITB at the time he said that he could not put a figure to their input but was sure it would be worth the while.

Director of La Regata Mr Benito Pinto-Rodriguez had also traveled to the VI to be present at the launch of the groundbreaking event, one he was sure will grow into something enormous.

Prize monies are said to be attractive with $4,500 being at stake for the overall best boat.

This is a good move, there are alot of guys who invest heavily in high performance boat especially in South Florida. I just returned from a poker run last weekend up there and these guys are serious about this kinda of event. One have express to me that they will like to bring couple guys down to host an event but the logistics will be give them hell so I think going forward this will be good for the BVI they just need to partner with more outside organizations.

This is jus my opinion...This is a good idea but it should have been geared towards the local boat guys as they are very talented especially with access to limited resources to show off their creativity. I jus feel it should have been for local boats only with the nonlocal ones being jus for exhibition..

If you are unsure of the structure of the event you should ask one of the organizers and not come on the new media giving empty opinions.

Criticism is good but constructive and informed criticism is oh so much greater!
