ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - After her second go at contesting in a Miss BVI pageant Jaynene Jno Lewis has managed to win the hearts of the judges of the contest for this year 2014 and now she wears a crown which will see her being an even stronger ambassador of the Virgin Islands as she travels the world.

She has been a member of the USA Navy as a Trained Captain for three years and a Navy Medical personnel for two years. “I am an ambassador for the BVI inside and out. With this opportunity now I am getting to represent the BVI locally and internationally I am going to continue to do that,” she said.

“Back then I didn’t do anything wrong, this time I am just more mature, more refined, this is the 60th so I had to come big,” she said shortly after being crown at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Road Town Tortola, VI.

She credits much of her improvement to the Pageant Committee headed by Ms Alicia Hamm saying that they did a wonderful job in training them. She also credits her success in her ability to deal with the aspect of time management.

The contest this year was contested by five young women; the others were Contestant #1 Doneisha D. Maduro Findlay who was judged the 1st runner up and took the prizes for Miss Photogenic, Best Interview and Best evening wear; Contestant#2 Tecora Morgan who copped the prize for best swimwear, #4 Aribella Parsons who got Miss Popularity, Miss intellect and Miss Congeniality and #5 Leah Johnney who won the prize for the Miss BVI Best promotion.

In addition to taking home the crown as Miss BVI 2014 Ms Jno Lewis won the prizes for Best Costume Wear, Most Poised and Best Talent.

Opting not to have the question re-read to allow her more time to carefully think it through during the question and answer segment, Ms Lewis said that this was her weakest area on stage for the night. For her she was most confident and comfortable in the swimwear segment.

Winning at this time is super special said the newest VI queen, “Because you know when you come back you don’t want to have an opportunity to be crowned 1st runner up or 2nd runner up or anything, you don’t want to do anything less than what you did in the past so this is opportunity now just gave me a chance to really believe in the words that when Jesus says yes nobody can say no.”

Her heart was filled with praise to her mother who she said always told her that success is never final.

Ms Rosanna K. Chichester, the 2013-2014 Miss BVI queen, was crowned Miss World BVI by the former queen Ms Keris Kassandra Malone after taking her final walk as Miss BVI 2013-2014.

The Multi-Purpose Sports Centre was filled with a large number of past queens, among whom were those who are still resident in the VI and those who returned home for the 60th Festival celebrations. They were recognized accordingly.

No it wasn't. A lot of us wanted #1 to win, but really and truly the awards went where they should have. Think real deep and be objective. Congrats! to all the young ladies, and much respect for your overall performances on stage tonight.

Now tell me how showing a video displays talent....the awards did not go where they should have....as for representing our territory, she better take the stick out her behind and humble herself. The pompous behaviour gives off a fake appearance. Not genuine at all.

And I can bet you all the judges were from BVI. For pageants like this and the Prince and Princess event there is need for mature older judges and also a majority should not be from BVI. The Judges mostly goes off the crown and then from who they know and like. From my experience with the Prince and princess show, the judges went off of the crown favourite and who they the judges were associated with.

Stay in school honey child. Prince and Princess and Miss BVI was won fairly due to the association of points awarded in each segment. As for Prince and Princess that couple who won should have take talent and intro also.

      Get the heck outta here.

I think the competition was between contestant #1 and #3. What #3 had over all the others was her confidence and maturity. Contestant #1, 2 and 5 you could see their lack of maturity and confidence at times showing. Contestant #4 was missing her grandmother's charisma, she came across at times very dull and not wanting to be there. I believe the crown is where it needs to be, I dont know the young lady who won, and she was not the contestant I was backing but at the end of the day I believe the best ambassador for the country won.

The show was very close as the segments were not one by just one person which means that the most consistent contestant would more than likely win...which in this case was Contestant #3 Jno Lewis. The crown is on the right head. However, what I found most dispicable and disrespectful to the BVI is the handing over of the Ms. World BVI to the last year queen [who I might add most people forgot she was queen...that goes to tell you just how well we were represented]. It would appear to me that this franchise is just about choosing friends and family. If the franchise is too lazy to put on a real show so that the title can be earned then they should collaborate with the Festival and Fairs Committee to give the crown to the First Runner Up. Last year Miss BVI had her chance and she wasnt even exceptional at it to be given this opportunity. This choice is unacceptable..She does not have my supprt

I would hope you are not referring to Chichester. Though I do not know here personally, she had a Facebook page titled Miss BVI 2013 chronicling her reign. We were up-to-date on every event she represented us in. In her final walk she mentioned partaking in about 30 events.

Wake up booboo you've been sleeping far too long.

It is good when u go in with high spirit because everyone wants to win, but when you start acting like you are better that is when problem starts. CONGRATULATION Ms Lewis you deserve it.

Winning/losing a competition is like getting a good crop of licks. Once you put licks on you can't take them off. In a competition the judges' decision is final.

This comment is highly uncalled for. Maybe you can suggest that mother and daughter run together. Odds are that they both may win second time around.

From the night of the pre-event I have been telling folks that No. 5, although she was not up there with her interview and business attire, her promo was the best. you have to listen and look deep to understand and appreciate. Surface judging should never be allowed in these type of pageants where ambassadors represent us regionally and internationally. they might get away locally, but outside of here.... NO.

That's the problem! She came in to the show thinking it was HERS not realizing she had to work for it. All those people behind her, all the people they brought in, they were cocky about it and acted like all the others were peasants. I know they got the shock of their lives and can't catch themselves up to now since Jaynene blew them out of the water. Backstage they were all in awe and the attitudes were stink. The church posse and others who think they have pioneer status on intellect let them take that in their backside! Jaynene did the damn thing and deserved that crown. The Judges decide who wins, not the crowd, not the church, not the so called elite, it's not based on character. It's based on performance at the show and that's why they can't catch themselves up until now. To them, No. 1 was 'supposed' to get it because she was queen material not the others. That's the problem right there, entitlement. Her costume was crap, the talent was rubbish and she bumbled her question. After the HLSCC promo and interview I thought she had an edge going into the show but she blew it. Why would they put her in that ugly bird? Why would she dance to a speech? Why play such a boring tune on the keyboard? The fire routine was AWESOME but that's it. So there, snap into reality. It's over, No. 3 worked her a.. off and it paid off. Nothing is yours until you work for it and achieve it. Word to the wise! She can regroup and come back next year!

@lmao...You had a lot on your mind to get off? I sure do hope that after such diatribe your spirit and mind have been cleansed, because it would appear as if you've been carrying such venom around for some time. You attacked the church, the guests of the family, someone's intellectual ability, and the young lady - who has said and done nothing to you or anyone. In fact, she is very gracious about her placement in the competition. So her supporters are disappointed, is that a crime??? Suchlike bitterness may is alarming!!! My prayer is that God would have mercy on your soul.

Seems you guys wanted the crown more than Doneisha herself. Now you all can get off your high horse before you fall off. The judges had criteria and props or crowd response carried a whopping zero points.

That young man CJ lived with he fmily for years while he was here in Tortola and decided to come to help her out, for her mother was kind enough to give him a place to live while he was here. You all dont kow anything but always chatting bull. There is no other person humble like Doneisha. It is obvious you feel her and you envy her. She came 1st runner up and took it in stride. You are really an idiot to even bring her church into this. Everyone has supporters and turn out to support who they wanted to win. Who are you to condem this young lady? Why the hell you aint get on stage and do better? I bet you would have failed. No, 3 may have worked hard but she did not work harder than anyone else. All the work you do is just blah your mouth about things you dont know anything about. How dare you try to bring down this sweet young lady? You outa place with your stupid talk. The winner talent (Video) was good but not better than Doneisha. Doneiisha had a natual talent and poise. Of all the negative posts, I find yours to be utter nonsense that is why I responded. I loath people like you who can not do any better than people you bring down..go drown yourself man..

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE YOUNG LADIES. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE WINNER AND THE JUDGES DECISION IS ALWAYS THE FINAL DECISION. WE NEED TO STOP THIS THING ABOUT CHEATING, ALL THE JUDGES FOLLOW A CRITERIA AND GIVE THERE MARKS ACCORDINGLY. AT THE END THE MARKS ARE ALL TOTOL UP. ONE COULD WIN THE SHOW BY JUST ONE POINT. EACH JUDGE LOOKS AT THE INDIVIDUALS DIFFERENTLY. YOU MIGHT SAY MS MADURO SHOULD OF WON, WHY SHOULD SHE HAVE WON AND WHY DIDN’T SHE WIN. YOU MIGHT SAY MS LEWIS SHOULD NOT OF WON, WHY DID SHE WIN AND WHY SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE WON. ANY OF THOSE GIRLS COULD HAVE WON BECAUSE IT’S ALL UP TO THE JUDGES AND THE POINTS GIVEN. WE IN THE CROWN FOLLOW A TOTAL DIFFERENT CRITERIA FAVORITISM AND FACORITISM CARRIES NO POINTS ON THE JUDGES CRITERIA.

JUST SAY THE POINTS ARE FROM 1 – 5

    #1 INTRO COULD HAVE BEEN - 5
#2 INTRO COULD HAVE BEEN -4
    #3 INTRO COULD HAVE BEEN - 3
    #4 INTRO COUD HAVE BEEN - 3
#5 INTRO COULD HAVE BEEN 2

    SKIPPING TO TALENT
    #1 TALENT COULD HAVE BEEN - 2
#2 TALENT COULD HAVE BEEN -3
    #3 TALENT COULD HAVE BEEN - 5
    #4 TALENT COUD HAVE BEEN - 3
#5 TALENT COULD HAVE BEEN 4

    SKIPPING TO QUESTION
    #1 QUES COULD HAVE BEEN - 4
#2 QUES COULD HAVE BEEN -2
    #3 QUES COULD HAVE BEEN - 4
    #4 QUES COUD HAVE BEEN - 4
    #5 QUES COULD HAVE BEEN - 2.5

    AT THE END

I watched the show last sunday. i don't know any of the ladies as I am new to the islands. The ladies were all beautiful, it was indeed a close fight but I still believe that contestant number 3 deserves it. In the introduction, i think no. 1 was ahead because she definitely has a clear and commanding presence on stage. Number 3 was in close second because she has so much poise and she looked and moved very elegantly without overdoing it. In the talent, i think no. 3 shoed off her talent best. Her music was great, her expressions and movements were sharp with full extensions when dancing and I actually felt her performance. i have been reading things about the projector and all that.. I think it took off the points from her as well as the drums. No. 1 did a lot of things which os okay but it was all disconnected. She missed a couple of keys in the piano, the interpretative dance to a speech did not work and actually looked like a "mime" and the only thing that worked for her was the fire baton twirling. Honestly, she should have just stuck to where she is strong at which is dancing and work around it. The other contestants were just ok. We go now to traditional costume.. No. 1 is just ok, the bird thing was so bulky and it could have been interpreted in a modern way, no. 2 is. Ice except the head dress which is a total fail but i ranked her second because she delivered it well. no. 3 i initially i didn't like and it took so long for her to unravel the other most interesting one but when she did, it was fabulous. I like the modern take on her costume and it has an international appeal. Evening gown: my favorite gown is from number 2, it was elegant, sophisticated and she carried it nicely. I just wish she lay low on the hand movements while walking because it was so 90's pageant. My second is no 1, the gown itself was a stand out but i think it was too long for her and it made her look shorter. She carried it nicely however. I placed no. 3 in close third. Swimsuit, i think no. 2 nailed this part of the competition. Close second was1 and 3 which both have a very nice and toned body. The interview portion was hands down number 4 who was the only one who answered straight to the point which i think is the reason why she placed. Number 3 and 1 almost got it but it took awhile for them to reach the answer but number 3 was more direct to the point than the other one. This was the loophole for number 2 which can be attributed to probably nerves. She is still also very young so she can work on this and come back to compete. Number 5 i like as well because she answered very naturally. My overall impression of candidates and contest: it was a good competition with all the ladies giving their best. I just wish more ladies join the pageant. I also think they should consider the height factor. The program can at times be very boring. Contestant number 1: she has a beautiful face and body, has a clear platform. Number 2 is sexy, energetic and vibrant when she comes out on stage. She just have to work on her nerves, focus on her strength talent wise, and practice answering questions spontaneously, number 3 i think she deserve the win that night but she needs to i prove on her walk when in long gown. The hand gestures was just too much. Number 4 was tall and elegant but can be very dull. She is beautiful bit needs to be more edgy about it. I liked her better when i saw her at the fashion show where she has this big hair. She was also very candid and smart during the interview. She will benefit from toning her body more but if trained well, she has very big potential as a beauty queen. I hope she competes again maybe after 2 years of preparation. Number 5 has a beautiful face and is adorable. She has a good singing voice but the "diamonds are a girls best friend" song from moulin rouge was far too much for her because it definitely needed some amount of maturity and sultriness to it.

Oh, did i misspelled her name? My apologies, but im sure it is not as worse as your mistakes in sentence consturction.. There should be a priod after own or if you want it as one sentence add a conjunction.. And use "their own" instead of theirs.. :) no need to apologize though, i understand we can have some typographical errors at times :)

Hi. please keep Jesus out of this. You have to show yourself in bathing suits in other competitions during your reign.. You know fully well that these shows are NOT of GOD. Be careful what you are saying. You must engage yourself in reading the scriptures.

I want to know what going to happen with Miss BVI's reign when the US call for their citizens to help fight since she is a former US military captain and air strikes have now been ordered in Iraq. Even though she does not serve anymore she can be called back to serve her country at anytime during times of instability. Then the 1st runner up who is a proud Virgin Islander who actually lives here will be left to pick up the pieces when she should have won all along.
