Congrats to Hon Fahie. He fought off the giants.

It is unfortunate that the voters were not given much of a choice in this election. It feels like a hollow win. A rush job can't lead to a good result.

Yes, he's on a roll in his district. but no where else in the territory as you can clearly see. He lost respect by taking people for granted. Instead of trying to win hearts of the entire territory with kind words, he threw sarcasm an anger in the people's faces. We don't want another 20 odd years of that like before. DONE!

I'm listening the coverage live and from what I've just heard from voting went on till after 8 at the polling Station and that is TOTALLY UPSURD. Rules, procedures and policies are made to be followed, POLLS opens @ 6am and finishes at 6pm. Persons who are on the inside are allowed to vote, when the gate is closed, voting is ceased. That is an OFFENSE and persons who allowed the individuals to place a vote after the allowed time should be FINED! You play by the rules, cricket starts at 6 and finishes at 6 not a MINUTE OVER!!

Are you really listening to what you're saying? Smh... Yes the poles closes at 6pm but once persons are in the line before 6pm you must allow them to vote!

@concerned citizen....you have your facts mixed up.....who ever in the line at 6.00 have to vote...so if a 299 was in the line at 6.00 they have to allow them all to vote.....The reason why some polling stations went so late...chat on what u know not on what u have no idea about...

why would you want to disenrachise people? If they were in the line at 6 pm by all means allow them to vote and make their voices heard. Why are you so scared of people voting?
    • @concern citizen (08/06/2015, 23:08) Like (10) Dislike (2) Reply
It's not. Yes the polls closed at 6:00pm all those that are in the line at 6 pm were allowed to vote as long as you were in the line. And it was over 100+ in the lines that they add get in the ft and closed it at 6.

this is a sad day because it marks a time when massive development, cruise ships, disney, loud big planes, more resorts and land giveaways will continue at a great pace and the government will STILL not listen or consider what people are saying. They think that it worked once it will work again. I am frightened for BVI. Today we lose our historical and cultural identity, our natural environment in an effort to look like Hong Kong or Miami or St Marteen.
Say good bye to Beef Island and Hans Creek, and some of the outer islands. Pickering now has an opportunity to put his money where his mouth is-- is he for saving the environment or only when it is convenient?

I hate that you feel that way. But look at it that our country can grow. The late Chief Stoutt always quoted these scriptures: Where their is no vision the people will perish. We the people of the BVI have vision. We advertise our self as BVI Staycation let us continue that and continue to make our islands a beautiful place to live. I hope that this time around that we will stop all the mud slinging and allow country to prosper. All the 1st and the 3rd have to do it come on board for the betterment of the country.

      Congratulations NDP.

Although I do not like Fraser and his drama, I commend both ministers for keeping up the noise and bringing irregularities to light. If you have one dominant party repeatedly there is a chance for laziness following the leader and it slowly becomes a dictatorship. Vanterpool's words still ring "we will listen to the people but we will not be deterred from our goal". That is not respectful listening. The question has always been HOW to grow and how to keep the people involved.

Lavity only wanted one cruise ship in a day knowing we didn't have the infrastructure for it. We are not much better off today. People come to see the natural state, not necessarily Micky Mouse. Tidal pools. mangroves and fisheries are being destroyed at Fat Hogs and plans for a resort will be pushed for Beef Island (even Havers) while the airport will cut off Trellis-- one of the biggest draws in the BVI chartering.

Let's see who caters to the wealthy resorts. Let's see what tail is wagging the dog. Not this dog. This victory is all the more reason to watch closely NDP protocol and buldozing through projects that are not necessarily good for the territory in the long run. Miami/ St Thomas/ St Marteen here we come.

Sounding the alarm. Watching the results for at large on channel 51. How is it that Lorie Rhymer is showing 1 vote in the 2nd district when a family member and I for sure cast a vote for him each? So if one vote is missing, how many others are missing? We knew when we saw those results for Mitch over Parsons that some thing was wrong but now we know for sure this election was tampered with and the results are flawed and not a true reflection of the voters. Not that that is anything surprising for the NDP where corruption is their lifestyle.

Bvi looking like Dodge. Your concerns are rightly placed. Take joy in that we did our part in trying. History will record that we did something to effect change and restoration while others docilely followed Ndp to the slaughter house. Bvi is no longer the bvi.
Now we must look elsewhere to have the kind of future we envisioned for the BVI. Those same people will be crying out under NDP.

You know something? I better start looking about buying property else where. The corruption in BVI has reached a solid 9. NDP voters remember you choose the consequences when you choose the decision. We will remind you of this when you return to begging and crying out. NDP fed you for a week. What are you going to do for the next years? I tell you what a partner in Rock who got a hefty contract is doing. He is on vacation trip with his kids and on return he is coming back to bvi to continue his contract and getting paid. Where will you be?

If those votes cast for NDP are valid, BVI has destroyed more years of progress. We are quite aware that pay outs went out. It is sad that all these cannot distinguish right from wrong. But life has a way of righting wrongs.

To those who did not cave in to illicit deception, take a bow for standing for honesty and integrity and not selling yourself short or in any form what so ever; as if there was enough money on earth to buy you.

To those who sold their votes, where was NDP when they neglected you for 3 1/2 years? Now you've proved to them that you can be easily manipulated and they have no further use for you. You will be discarded, neglected and dismissed just as you were for 3 1/2 years. What use do they have for you now that you have proven how easily duped you can be. Now that you have given them your ace, what leverage can you operate from now? You went on clearance sale and you sold your birthright for a morsel of meal.

As we all know a vote for ndp means a vote for your low quality of life, your continued dimishment, turning you into beggars since they got into power and their usual bullying and corruption. I want to ask this fairly to the people of other Caribbean islands. Your parents and may be you too left your countries for betterment. Why then would you put in the NDP who has started to turn the bvi into the same oppressed country you left from? NDP don't care about you. Now you will see them turn their back on you. Bvi was your mecca and now you have given away your mecca. Many of you and tolians will say you regret the day you put ndp back.

NDP supporters have acted as if their views were the only one that matter for the entire election. Not because a party wins means that the concerns of the other side automatically go away. Stop calling people bitter because they see fault where fault lies. The NDP is perfect nor did they run a perfect campaign.
And do the research on your candidates more and you will see which one regularly practice obeah and are in secret societies.
