ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The male student of the Bregado Flax Learning Centre who was stabbed in his chest on June 18, 2012 has now been confirmed to be in a stable condition.

The 16 year old student was reportedly brought to the Peebles Hospital in a critical condition after an altercation with another student at the Virgin Gorda school, while displaying a knife.

Confirmation about the incident coming from the Police Public Relations Officer Diane Drayton stated that the student's condition has now been raised from critical to stable.

She further stated in a release issued by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, that the wounded student and another male student of the same school were engaged in a fight outside the school. The release further stated that the wounded student, who was allegedly seen brandishing a knife and attempting to stab the other student, collapsed on the floor shortly after with a wound to the chest.

Ms. Drayton disclosed that the other person involved in the fight was treated for minor injuries at the Iris O’Neal Clinic in Virgin Gorda and then was released.

Police interviewed the male student involved in the altercation in the presence of a parent along with several witnesses of the incident. Ms. Drayton indicated that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident.

for your information a female teacher did help out because she was trained to handle situations of this caliber. That same teacher was their for years and is under paid. what u should be looking at is the response of the firemen which was really slow and unprofessional. (Note these fire men were present when this incident happened) in addition the principal face had no concern as she slowly walked away after viewing the kid.

It is the responsibility of the parents to train and teach their children right from wrong. Most of what happens is when these kids are brought up in an unstable environment you find this kind of behavior, and then we blame the teachers and Government. Most parents out there are afraid to talk to their children....because they think that they will lose the friendships. Stop being friends and be a parent in all ways. Discipline your children and stop hiding they faults. Stop blaming the system. Government did not get these kids, you did. Deal with it.
