BALSAM GHUT, Tortola, VI- Our senior sources at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) in Balsam Ghut have indicated that Mr Tyrone George has been recaptured.

Mr George, who is serving time for burglary, escaped custody on the afternoon of May 2, 2019.

Virgin Islands News Online was informed that Mr George was recaptured around 9:00pm following a collaborative effort between ranks of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and prison officers.

“He was found in bushes near Beef Island bridge,” a top source inside HMP said.

The source further said Mr George has since been placed on lockdown.

HMP inmate Tyrone George escapes

Word reaching our newsroom from senior sources at Her Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut, on the main island of Tortola, is that one of its inmates escaped sometime this afternoon, May 2, 2019.

The fugitive has been identified as Tyrone George who had been incarcerated for burglary.

It is unclear at this time how Mr George managed to escape.
