‎‎POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI - Yesterday afternoon's July 13, 2014 accident involving a family of eight has left two hospitalized and the mother of one of the persons hurt Ms Kishmet B. Daniels desperately crying for help.

Ms Daniels said her nine year old son Jekhalibbah S. A. Williams and her husband Aubrey S. Daniels, a citizen of the United States, are both slowly recovering from injuries they suffered in the accident.

She said that the nine year old's injuries were to the extent that he was not responding but today he is off the ventilator and is speaking though in intense pain.

Mr Daniels is said to have suffered some amount of chest injuries which still have him in severe pains. "But he is going to be ok. I glad my son is talking now," said the woman in an obviously emotional state.

She recalled the ordeal of yesterday afternoon July 13, 2014 as one that could have been avoided had leaders heeded her many cries for help. "I just remember hearing screaming, my children were screaming, I was just seeing bushes going in a circle till the jeep came to a stop and my husband was bawling for his chest,” she recalled.

She said another of her sons was left trapped in the vehicle and she along with swiftly responding neighbours who resided in the building close to where the vehicle landed assisted in getting the child out. These included Mr Cleo Foster Williams, his son Craig Williams and several others.

"My baby (11 months old) got pitch out and the others too. I just saw a woman with my baby in her hands and others helping me and the others," she recalled.

Mrs Daniels said she blames the mossy road which has sewage constantly flowing down for yesterday’s accident. She said very often they would slipped on the mossy road causing them to hurt themselves. "The road full of filth… we usually fall very often on that road and no one seems to care,” said the woman.

She went on to explain that the general environment in which she lives is one that's not fit for human habitation. "There is mold everywhere in the apartment, rats, flies, roaches… the surrounding is a mess. And there are others living in the very building suffering the same fate. "But I can't speak for them I can only speak for myself,” she added.

Mrs Daniels said that she has been constantly at the doors of persons in authority to help her get herself and children a healthier environment but her cries have been falling on deaf ears.

"The landlord wants me out, they keep giving me notice to move but nobody wants to rent me their apartment because I have so many children. No one seems to care."

As for the road she said had there been a guard rail in place and the sewage issues dealt with yesterday's accident which could have claimed lives could have been avoided.

Family of 8 in Pockwood Pond Accident

- One child injured not considered critical

POCKWOOD POND, Tortola, VI - Sometime after 6:00pm today July 13, 2014 a family of eight was involved in an accident which saw the Chevy Tahoe they were in toppling several times down a hill at Pockwood Pond before it came to a halt.

Speaking with this news site Ms Kishmet B. Daniels, an occupant of the vehicle at the time, said her husband was at the wheel when as he was attempting to turn the steering wheel it appeared to have stiffened. This resulted in the vehicle guiding itself to the edge of a steep hill and toppling downwards until it came to a halt at the bottom.

"I just grabbed my children and head to the hospital," she said. She also said it was her, the driver and six of her children in the vehicle at the time.

According to Ms Daniels one of her sons appeared to have hit his head resulting in him sustaining a gaping wound to the head. "His face is swollen but he is conscious and everything. All the other children and myself are ok," said Ms Daniels as she awaited medical attention for her son at the Peebles Hospital.

The children’s ages range from 11 months to 12 years old. It is a 9 year old that is currently nursing injuries.

This news site will provide further details as they become available.

To God be the glory that they are all ok with the exception of that 9 years old. How it's nothing too serious about his injuries and he will recover real soon

My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope that you all recover.

In the mean time get rid of that vodoo doll because a dark cloud is over the BVI and you don't know who is watching your back.

Give your children a lime bathe when you get out of the hospital.

No credit to LIME the phone company and you don't need to go to any church offering a new life born again person because you life has already begun ages ago and someone want to end it.

Too many churches and so much evil.

Where i can relate to omg comment, it is hard to believe that many people here in the bvi turn a blind eye to evil. Evil comes in many ways, shape, and forms and one must be open to all advice even though it may sound weird.

I don't know the family but I wish a speedy recovery. Read the bible and you will see that there is reference related to what omg is saying which can be true.

Really glad everyone is a live. Its clearly an accident. Vehicles are not 100% perfectly built or will ever be..even with regular service to the vehicle its still not promise all is 100%. However the hill sound very high and serious. By chance is it a hilled that NDP should have put guard rails? All roads with dangerous hills and no guard rails on the should be blaming the current elected party (NDP)

Lots of guard rails in some really bad location should be in place...

Yes it's NDP's fault the vehicle malfunctioned and went over the hill. It's also NDP's fault that Argentina lost the World Cup Match yesterday. Oh, yea, I also remember that NDP is responsible for the sun being so damn hot and rain not falling. The NDP needs to go. LMFAO!! WOW, people cannot really be this stupid!

They are doing ok and recovering. Some of these roads do need to be looked at. We know that vehicles are not 100% that is why we must take precautions with how we build our roads.

Kishmet I'm happy that you and your family are safe and will reach out to you to assist financially shortly. It's a shame that you have supported certain politicians for over 10yrs and you are in this situation. Don't worry, help is on the way and you will truly see who are genuine from who are playing with your situation and using you for their own gain. A talented and kind hearted person like yourself doesn't deserve this and neither do the kids. Keep calm and don't let anyone use you politically anymore. Focus on your craft and getting back on your feet.

Check the fuel tank . A tank with less than one forth of a tank of fuel will not keep a motor running on a steep hill if on the slope a long time.

I take it that the 11 month old child wasn't strapped into a car seat as required by law !!!!! See how this poor child could have been killed because of the parents negligence.
    • Jones (15/07/2014, 07:07) Like (28) Dislike (4) Reply
I am glad that someone else posted this. My first thoughts were if the kids were all strapped in as is not only required by law but is common sense. Ms Daniel seems to be very quick to blame everyone else when further questions have to be asked. Was the vehicle maintained properly, was it being driven in proper manner, were the tyres suitable for the road that she has to travel on.

And as far as complaining that she cant find anywhere else to rent as she has so many children I think she needs to look at herself for that issue. If you cant afford to look after so many kids stop having them.
      • hey (15/07/2014, 08:40) Like (6) Dislike (0) Reply
@jones i totally agree with you, no thoughts were given to safety as the family prepared for their trip, some accidents are unavoidable but nothing is wrong with preparing for the unavoidable, like buckling up ensuring that you have good tires, regular maintenance of your vehicle, engaging low gear, respecting water on the road etc.

we all should learn form this.

Does anyone know her history, you think she was always in the situation, financially. Everyone can fall, but those that only berate those that fall have swift punishment ahead of them. Jah was right, our people are a forgetful people. I pray many blessings on my family, and my little cousin recovering. Jah guide us all.
