SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Town Hall emerged the victor in today's feature event of the Boxing Day races held at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay.

The horse ran neck and neck for the first lap of the race but eventually sped away on the back straight to win by several lengths at the end in a time of 1:53.01.

All eyes on debutants in Boxing Day races today!

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Excitement will be high in the air as fans keenly look forward to the performance of 'Buy Buy Buy' and two other horses which make their entrance on the track for the first time in today’s, December 26, 2013, Boxing Day races at Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea Cows Bay.

'Buy Buy Buy', a new purchase for the L&B Stables team, comes up against Town Hall and the veteran Mr Gold Prospect of St Thomas in the feature event over a distance of 1 1/16 miles. Town Hall, also a recent debutant, finished third to Leave it to Bern and Swagg Daddy in races held in November.

Observers will be hoping that 'Buy Buy Buy', running out of the same stables as champion racehorse Really Uptown, brings the same level of hype, intensity and dominance that Uptown did just recently.

Still, no word has emerged on the progress of Uptown and its eagerly anticipated return to the tracks and the dominance it left off after smashing records in becoming the first horse to win each of the three legs of the VI Triple Crown earlier this year.

There will be two other debutants in today’s races, namely Willa Bella and Stephen Got Better, both races being for mares and fillies leading up to the feature race.

Willa Bella will be pitted against Miss Homer and Orithiya. Miss Homer was the second horse to be purchased through a government funded grant acquired by the VI Horse Owners Association.

Stephen Got Better, coming fresh of consecutive wins in the first two legs of the Triple Tiara Crown in St Thomas will clash with All Country and Square One in the Fourth race of the day in the one-miler for geldings, colts, fillies and mares.

Good Boy Daddy, Power Ten and Tormento will feature in the 7 furlong second race of the day for D Class horses while Man from the Hill, Priority Express and True Essence will open proceedings for the day in the 6½ furlong race for D&E class horses.

President of the VI Horse Owners Association, Mrs Karen Smith-Aaron, said the Boxing Day races have always been a part of the local culture and she looked forward to having a fun filled day with fans coming out to witness the event.

Post time is 1:45 PM and entrance fee is $10.00 adults and $5.00 children 11 and under.

If Stephen got better was mines she wuda been running in STX 2day for dat big money instead of running in tola for peanuts. $17.200 which $15.400 goes to the winner, That wud have been a EASY EAT for her. Horse racing in Tortola is on life support, If we keep running it as a hobby and not as a business IT WILL DIE SOON!!!

The real problem is NDP and that Minister does not care anything about horse racing and maintaining the racetrack. Its apart of our culture in the bvi but in Antigua the culture is cricket...So go figure
