SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – Wild celebrations filled the air following Town Hall’s victory in the feature Turtle Dove Classic of the first ever VI Classic to be held in the Virgin Islands yesterday, January 26, 2014.

Town Hall notched up a second consecutive victory in defeating a field consisting of four overseas competitors and another local horse. Town Hall finished in an official time of 1:54 3/5.

Break up the Game and Edge Ahead (both of St Thomas) came second and third respectively and were followed by Rough N Royal (StX), Brass Note (StX), and Game Keeper (Tor).

Jockey, Ricardo Filliciano, who rode the horse for the first time said afterwards that Town Hall had been training well and broke really well from the gate, “I watched this horse run before and he likes to run… he runs a good race.”

Fans were heard debating heavily whether Town Hall was the new item on the block and whether he could fare well in a matchup against the recovering champion horse, Really Uptown.

Stephen Got Better had the better of Mae Ruler once again in a matchup between the two after two other horses had been scratched for the Axel Ritter Special. The horse fulfilled its owner, Rodney Simmons’ predictions about the outcome in winning in a time of 1:49.3.

Earlier, St Thomas’ Mr Gold Prospect bested a field of three in the one mile William Rhymer Rumble, finishing in a time of 1:50.2 ahead of Square One and Buy Buy Buy, both of Tortola and Weir’s Gap of St Thomas. Tiger Glider (STT) and Blast of Macho (StX) were scratched for the race.

Miss Homer won the deciding duel against Orithiya in the 7 Furlongs Patsy Lake Invitational race for mares and fillies by placing first in 1:33.4. Orithyia followed closely ahead of Selena’s So Mad and True Essence. Peacephilly (STT) was scratched for the race.

Good Boy Daddy defeated What’s Popping and Power Ten in the Oliver Cills Showdown while Don’t Hook My Halo (StX) finished ahead of Man From the Hill and Joshua in the first race of the day.
