UPDATE - Tourist who went missing dies

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Sherene Petersen, the American tourist who went missing for some hours of the weekend, died while undergoing treatment at Peebles Hospital this morning February 29, 2012.

Petersen was found and rescued on Sunday afternoon in thick brush overlooking Josiahs Bay after wandering away from a Josiah’s Bay Beach restaurant.

She suffered from a known medical condition. Her husband Roger Petersen was with her at the time her death.

The cause of her death is still to be determined.

Roger Petersen thanked the VI community and in particular the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and the staff of Peebles Hospital for all their support and assistance through this crisis and the media for assistance is getting the word out.

As it relates to the media, he asks now for some discretion, privacy and understanding in reporting of the news as he informs his family overseas of the present circumstances surrounding her death.

      oooh nooooo how did this happened? Very sad for all as I was feeling good when I read on vino she was going overseas for help and now this! I will remeber her family and poor husband in my prayers.

      "open door" you turn doctor???? what if she had other health issues that we did not hear of???? it was sad to know that she went without food and water for over two days...and if there was other issues that could have made it worst.....the full story may not have been told
