UPDATE: ‘Throat slasher’ for mental evaluation
The Public Relations Unit of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) released the attacker’s name as Agelan Lewis, a 21 year old resident of Carrot Bay. The charge against him is inflicting grievous bodily harm. “Lewis is presently being assessed by the mental health unit,” said the release.
Persons residing in the area described the accused as a young man “with problems”. “He isn’t too right up there and the family knows that but nobody expect him to do such a thing, nah man he gone too far now,” said a Carrot Bay resident.
It further said that initial inquiries indicate that the man, a relative of the homeowner, attacked the female while she was visiting the home on Thursday, January 1, 2015. “There is no indication that she had previously known the attacker.”
Medical examination revealed that the victim sustained three lacerations to the neck and one to her fingers. A knife was reportedly recovered at the scene of the incident. The injured woman was taken to Peebles Hospital where she was treated for her wounds.
Meanwhile, a hospital source has confirmed that the victim in this incident is Ayoka Pond who, according to hospital records, hails from Antigua. The source said the woman was treated, kept for observation one night, and sent home the following day.
“From what I understand the doctors that saw her said the injuries, especially the one to her neck, wasn’t severe but something is wrong because she was back here the next day (January 3, 2015) in lots of pain and reportedly fainting, which we suspect is because of the extent of the pain and maybe some other complications,” said the hospital source.

Mental ailment is not a curse. Having one mental health Dr. assigned to a great big hospital who appears to send them more crazy instead of help the issue is a curse. A well experienced, credible mental health professionals would be a blessing to the island.
Credible by whose account yours...and you are not even aware that the"great big hospital" has two Psychiatrists if that is what you are referring to.....and three "mental health Drs"....depending on your orientation!!!
