ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The skeletal remains found behind an Upper Main Street store in February of this year are like that of Clinton Hodge, who went missing since 2011.

This is according to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) in a press release issued today, August 16, 2016.

Virgin Islands News Online had first and accurately reported on February 10, 2016 that skeletal remains had been recovered at Upper Main Street, two days after a human skull was recovered at the same location.

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Major Crime Team, in its press release today, issued a statement confirming that based on DNA retrieve from the closest surviving family member, the skeletal remains are likely that of Clinton Hodge.

“The remains of a male were uncovered on February 10 of this year; two days after a skull were discovered by a workman behind the establishment. RVIPF arranged for members of the Territory Search and Rescue Team (TSART) to cover a wide circumference of the area. Clothing and other items were also recovered from the site.”

The RVIPF said the Coroner’s Office enlisted the help of a forensic anthropologist overseas to carry out the necessary examination.

This examination, however, could not determine the cause of death.

Clinton Hodge went missing on or around September 26, 2011.

“An investigation into his disappearance was carried out by the Major Crime Team. While he had a United States passport, Police inquiries showed that he did not legally enter the U.S. or fly out with any airline in the Caribbean region. Clinton whereabouts had remained unknown until this recent discovery,” the press release stated.

Skeletal remains of body found on upper Main Street

- in area where skull was discovered on Monday February 8, 2016

Police moments ago, February 10, 2016, removed skeletal remains of a body from upper Main Street following the discovery of a skull two days ago on Monday February 8, 2016.

When this news site arrived on the scene, members of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and other law enforcement officials were there securing the area.

Officers on the scene were tight lipped but one officer confirmed to this news site that a body had been removed today.

It is strongly believed that the body found is related to the skull found in the same area, behind an upper Main Street store.

Speculation is rife that the body and skull have been buried for about five years.

RVIPF confirms discovery

The RVIPF later issued a press release confirming our first and accurate story.

"Police have now uncovered the remaining skeleton in an area some distance from the skull which was found behind a Main Street establishment on Monday morning. RVIPF organised a search team comprising the Police and Fire and Rescue officers that are members of the Territory Search and Rescue Team (TSART) to cover a wide circumference of the area. Clothing and other items were also recovered from the site," the press release stated.

It further said forensic officers are preparing to carry out the necessary forensic examination in hopes of confirming an identity.

"The RVIPF does not connect the discovery to the recent missing person’s report. Updates on this find will be provided as they become available."

Resources or not it should be looked into. Something like that cannot be swept under the rug for lack of funding. That person is someone's family and they have a right to know who it is and what happen. To many people is turning up missing here in the BVI.

If it is indeed Thug, and the DNA proves it is him and there was foul play whoever is responsible is shaking in their boots. There is no such thing as the perfect crime. If it is proven that it is him and someone was involved, their DNA is going to be there also.
