UPDATE: RVPIF confirms discovery of human leg on Peter Island
According to reports, the dismembered limb was discovered on a beach by workers on the private island.
There have been speculations as to who it may belong to, with persons fearing it may be of someone feared drown after a vessel allegedly capsized somewhere between St Maarten and the Virgin Islands. Others have been asking if it could belong to missing man Devern Stanley, 28, of Free Bottom on Tortola.
Stanley, aka Snoopy, was reported missing on June 7, 2016.
Last evening, July 15, 2016, Police confirmed our story that a human limb was found on Peter Island.
"Police confirm that [a] human limb has been found on Peter Island," stated Sergeant Beverly James, who added that investigations are being carried out into the discovery.
Other body parts, including arm, also recovered
Meanwhile, in a press release issued today, Saturday July 16, 2016, Police said it had received a report on July 15, 2016 that what appeared to be a human leg was seen washed up on the seashore on Peter Island. Members of the Major Investigation Team and Scenes of Crime Unit responded; and conducted investigations.
"During investigation, what appeared to be other body parts of a human, including an arm, were also recovered. The suspected human remains were tagged as John Doe and are presently at Peebles Hospital Morgue," the press release further stated.
Investigation into the recovery of the body parts continues.

Human leg found on Peter Island
Information reaching our newsroom from our Team of Reporters is that a human limb was discovered on Peter Island this morning, July 15, 2016.
According to reports, the dismembered limb was discovered on a beach by workers on the island.
Unconfirmed reports are that the US Coast Guard also has an interest in the discovery.
Media relations officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), Beverly James, did not respond to our queries via text messaging and also did not accept our telephone calls.
Coordinator of the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) J. Phil Aspinall said VISAR is on standby as it has been hearing similar reports but has not been contacted by authorities.
