ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Mr Roberto ‘Tico’ Harrigan, a former Customs Officer, was also arrested yesterday, February 7, 2017 by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on the request of the United States Justice Department.

Virgin Islands News Online had first and accurately reported last night that Mr Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge was arrested, in connection with alleged drug trafficking.

Our information was confirmed by the RVIPF, who issued a press release today, February 8, 2017.

“Earl Hodge and Roberto Harrigan were both arrested yesterday evening on warrants issued on behalf of the United States Justice Department,” the RVIPF press release stated.

Both men are scheduled to appear today in a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court.

Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge arrested

Information reaching this news site from our sources within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is that Earl ‘Bob’ Hodge has been taken into custody and may be handed over to US authorities.

According to sources, it is alleged Mr Hodge is to be handed over to the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) “as ordered by Her Majesty the Queen” to be tried for alleged drug trafficking.

We could not confirm this information, however, as our queries to Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Information Officer Diane Drayton were not immediately returned.

On December 22, 2014 the High Court of the Virgin Islands had quashed an extradition order for Mr Hodge, Carlston Beazer, Chad Skelton and Roberto ‘Tico’ Harrigan.

Justice Vicki Ann Ellis’ 51-page ruling summed up her decision against former Governor William Boyd McCleary, saying the court found that there was no independent judgment exercised by him (McCleary) in making his decision to issue an extradition order.

It is not clear if anyone else, apart from Mr Hodge, has been arrested.

It was on September 12, 2016 that the wife of Mr Hodge, horse racing legend and businesswomen Mrs Violet 'Letty' Hodge was sentenced to six years in prison and fined $100,000 by controversial Magistrate Ayanna O. Baptiste DaBreo of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

More details to follow.

You are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest just means they gave provable cause. If you believe they are innocent of the crime they are accused of , start a fund to earn monies to pay for a good Attorney. That is how American Justice works ..going free depends on how much attorney you can buy

A "civilized society" must rely on the judiciary to take away certain rights of those accused of crimes, leading up to their trial. The judiciary requires reasonable proof of wrong doing. Once they have that, the accused offender HAS NO RIGHTS until they are tried, and either convicted or exonerated.

The function of the judiciary is in fact exactly what you appear opposed to! It is the judiciaries job to apply justice
(once a suspect has been arrested) - based on the laws of the land and the prescribed procedures which include:

      1. Detaining a suspect duly arrested by law enforcement agents - OR - providing an offer of bail until such time as the suspected offender stands trial.

      2. Try the suspect based on a system of established laws or permit extradition to another country whose laws may have been broken, so that the suspect may stand trial under that country's legal system.

      3. If found guilty in a court of law, the judiciary is duty bound to mete out punishment to the convicted person, within certain guidelines, and as they pertain to the specific offence or offences committed.

If the judiciary did not have the authority to arrest, detain, try or extradite, what do you think their reason to exist might be?

The police, together with the judiciary are there to represent law abiding citizens and to provide us with the protections needed to keep our children, ourselves and our communities safe from law-breakers and evil-doers.

They not only have the ability to take away "some" rights and freedoms, they do so with our blessings, provided the process is honest, above board and within the boundaries of the law!

@scary Mary..... You taking a lot of the seemingly right things.. But we use the law as a get back at you tool. Justice here is dispensed according to who is under investigation. I know that for a fact. It is not equitable, fair or unbiased. Look around you. Talk is cheap the courts are corrupted... The jury system tarnished... The police corrupt... What goes on behind closed doors to discuss ones fate is appalling. So say all those goods things you said. America prosecutes everyone who breaks the laws even politicians and Judges and would impeach presidents.. what do we do here? In bed with the lawyers and magistrates and judges? My point is not for or against the extradition of the men but rather that justice in the BVI is almost on a who you are basis.. The DPP office is questionable with economic migrants there. Sporting around like game birds and paperwork sloppy and shabby. We have fish and fish sticks!!! Now I understand why there is street justice.

If true. No surprise. The DEA and FED do not give up no matter how long it takes. If they have accused you of something, and they want you, they will get you.

They will drain your pockets until you have no more money to fight them. They will bring pressure diplomatically or otherwise on local officials to get you if need be, and the U.K. being their special friend will hand you over at some point. All the extradition hearings were just a show.

If Bob Hodge sold drugs, its miniscule compared to that sold by the British Government. Just ask the Chinese. How did England get control of Hong Kong? They insisted that Chinese buy the opium they were selling, the Chinese refused and the British invaded, capturing Hong Kong.
Under the Reagan administration, the US government sold drugs to their own people in order to raise money to buy weapons for the contras in Nicaragua. So where is the morality in all this? It seems to be all about who has the power.

When the USA have prisoners abroad they make sure they are not treated inhumane but when they have other countries prisoners they treat them inhumane so I hope the QUEEN make sure he is treated fair. MR HODGE did not commit a crime on the USA soil... This is a warning what will be next why she never order the audit of the BVI finances instead of giving this man to the US government we have a lot of other problem here to deal with.

Instead of fussing and fighting like we are wont it be much better if we as a people could come together and learn something from this whole tragedy just so that this never happens to us or our kids? There's many ways many different ways to skin a cat. Drug is just an old way of beating the system and trust me, its well played out. why not open our eyes and realize that there's nothing more the system fears than a black man with brains.wake up people wake up. We can do it. If drugs and murder is the only way of life that we could find as a people trust me.then we have already lost the battle.

Hhhhmm, I wonder who's going down with them this time. The Feds don't play. Do you'll think for one moment that they would have allowed all those years of investigation and money to go down the drain like that, hell no! It was just a matter of time. I could only imagine that some people are going to be having some sleepless nights. Listen up for their time.

How the Queen will protect you, from a car accident? Same thing applies...The national anthem is for people who respect and appreciate her souverity. Clearly you are confused people, ICE has deported people to the BVI have serving their time in a cell. It's wasn't a case of the BVI that caught the drug lords it was a US case. They have to right to request extradition for them to appear before a federal judge to hear their charges. Although they think they got away in the last, the US won't stop until they get want the want, and the BVI better be careful as to not be on the wrong side of Trump. The Ban can be a simple phone call to stop visa waivers in the USVI and for other reasons finically.

@Real Talk, You canot be wrong and strong at the same time, you canot have your cake and eat it to. Do you really think the FEDS would waste time and money on something that is not true? You sound so damn stupid about the Queen giving up people. If you feel that way then fly to England and request a meeting with her about your concerns. I will be willing to pay for your Airfare and Hotel stay.

wow, look how many haters these guys have. People don't like to see others doing good whether you got rich off of drugs or worked hard to get to the top. Truth of the matter is we all rather to see ourselves at the top as oppose to someone else. Bob Marley once said "It's a disgrace to see the human race in a rat race"

It is incredibly difficult to accept that this has been going on for black people since they were kidnapped to be brought to the USA.
